  • Prime Mid-Beach location (quieter than South Beach, walkable to 41st St)
  • Historic 1936 Art Deco architecture with original terrazzo floors
  • The newly renovated 'Le Particulier' rooms are a massive upgrade

Stutt samantekt: A hotel with a split personality: you'll either get a stunning, freshly renovated room or a musty relic from its budget past—book carefully.

Farið yfir af @AdleighBrisebois1399558I stayed in the Ocean View Suite and it was a total dream. The retro decor is even cuter in person—especially that teal fridge! It’s the perfect spot if you want a Miami stay that actually has personality and style.

The hype

Travelers love the location and the helpful front desk staff (shoutout to Oscar), but reviews are polarized between 'hidden gem' and 'nightmare' depending on the room condition.

Reality check

The 'old' rooms are notorious for musty smells, thin walls, and worn-out bathrooms, while the 'new' rooms get rave reviews for design and comfort.

  • You appreciate authentic Art Deco architecture over cookie-cutter modern builds
  • You want to be near the beach but away from the Ocean Drive chaos
  • You are booking one of the new 'Premium' or 'Le Particulier' designated rooms

Hreinlæti og viðhald

  • Housekeeping: Daily housekeeping is standard, but consistency varies. Renovated rooms are reported as spotless; older rooms have complaints of missed dust.
  • Bathroom hygiene: The biggest pain point in non-renovated rooms (grout issues, worn fixtures). Renovated bathrooms are pristine with rainfall showers.
  • Maintenance: Ongoing. You might see peeling paint in hallways or encounter a slow drain in older rooms.
  • Linens & towels: Generally fresh, but check them upon arrival. Some reports of wear in the older inventory.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby can smell of the Subway downstairs. Old rooms have had reports of mustiness; new rooms smell fresh/neutral.

Gott að vita

  • There is NO on-site parking; you must use street parking ($4/hr) or a public garage (approx. $20-30/day) blocks away.
  • The hotel is strictly non-smoking.
  • Luggage storage is available if you arrive before check-in.

Hvað á að pakka

  • Earplugs (essential for the thin walls)
  • Beach towel (hotel provides them, but extras are good for the beach across the street)
  • Walking shoes (Mid-Beach is great for walking, but parking is a pain)

I am looking forward to my stay. Please ensure I am assigned one of the newly renovated rooms (Le Particulier style) with the updated bathroom and flooring. I would prefer a higher floor away from the elevator for quiet.

How much is the deposit?

A refundable security deposit of $150 USD is required upon check-in.

It's in Mid-Beach (41st St). South Beach is about a 5-10 minute Uber or a 30-minute walk south.

The hotel is undergoing a major renovation into 'Le Particulier'. Some rooms are brand new and chic; others are older. You must request a renovated room.

Not typically included in the standard rate, but there is a Subway downstairs and better cafes nearby.

Innherja ábendingar

  • The hotel is effectively two hotels in one right now: the old 'Ocean Spray' and the new 'Le Particulier'. Verify which one you are actually booking.

  • Ask for Oscar at the front desk—reviews consistently mention him as the problem-solver who can upgrade you.

  • Avoid the ground floor Subway smell by asking for a room on a high floor.

5 hlutir sem þú ættir að vita áður en þú ferð

  • 💡The 'resort fee' is sometimes waived or non-existent for standard bookings, but the $150 deposit is strictly enforced.

  • 💡The elevator is historic (read: slow and small) and occasionally out of service.

  • 💡There is a 'Subway' sandwich shop in the building which can make the lobby area smell like bread and cold cuts.

  • 💡The rooftop is being developed as part of the new brand, but is currently not a usable amenity for most.

  • 💡You are right next to the 'Faena District'—walk two blocks south to see the golden mammoth skeleton for free.
