Agafay Camp

$200-350 / nótt

Pantaðu þetta ef You want the 'Sahara experience' without the 9-hour drive, complete with infinity pools and glamping tents.

Af hverju fólk elskar þetta

  • Stunning infinity pools with Atlas Mountain backdrops
  • Luxury tents with private terraces and air conditioning
  • Magical stargazing and sunset camel rides

Stutt samantekt: A highly photogenic 'desert' playground that's more about Instagram vibes and pool parties than authentic Bedouin solitude.

Farið yfir af @hulindlovuI escaped to the Agafay Desert for a few nights and it was pure magic. Lounging by that infinity pool with the mountains in the distance felt surreal. My tent was cozy, stylish, and had the best bathtub. Highly recommend for a romantic reset.

The hype

Guests are blown away by the pool views and tent comfort but often sticker-shocked by food and drink prices.

Reality check

The 'peaceful desert' vibe can be shattered by loud music animation at dinner and construction sounds in the morning.

  • You only have a weekend and can't trek to Merzouga
  • You need a pool and AC to survive the desert heat
  • You want a safe, sanitized adventure with alcohol and Wi-Fi

Hreinlæti og viðhald

8.8
  • Housekeeping: Generally attentive, but some reports of missed details in busy times.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Mostly clean, but critical reports of poor drainage causing floods and loose toilet seats.
  • Maintenance: Some wear and tear visible; construction is ongoing in parts of the camp.
  • Linens & towels: Fresh and adequate, though not always 5-star plush.
  • Odors & scents: Fresh desert air, occasionally marred by generator fumes or kitchen smells depending on wind.

Gott að vita

  • Alcohol is served but expensive (~€14/beer)
  • City tax is ~€0.52 per person/night
  • Pet policy is conflicting online; call ahead if bringing a dog

Hvað á að pakka

  • Earplugs for the morning construction or evening music
  • Layers – the desert gets surprisingly cold at night
  • Power bank (tents have power, but outages can happen)

Herbergis-Genie

Bestu val

  • Canyon View Tents for the most unobstructed vistas
  • Tent 6 (specifically recommended by past guests for views)
  • Luxury Lodges with outdoor bathtubs for maximum romance

Herbergi til að forðast

  • Tents near the restaurant/pool if you want to sleep before the music stops
  • Back-row tents with obstructed views of the 'dunes'

Herbergisbeiðna-Genie – afrita og líma

I would love to request a 'Canyon View' tent, ideally away from the main restaurant/pool area to avoid evening noise. If Tent 6 is available, that would be our preference.

Algengar spurningar og falin ábendingar

Allt sem þú vilt vita áður en þú bókar.

Is it real sand dunes?

No. Agafay is a stone desert (reg). It's rocky and hilly, not the sandy dunes (erg) of Merzouga.

Is there AC in the tents?

Yes, the luxury tents are equipped with air conditioning, which is a lifesaver during the day.

How far is it from Marrakesh?

About 45-60 minutes by car. It's an easy overnight or day trip.

Is the pool heated?

There are two pools; reviews indicate one is heated, but effectiveness varies in winter.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

Technically no, as they sell it on-site. Discretion is advised if you do.

Is the food worth the price?

Debatable. Menus are fixed (~€69) and reviews are mixed, with some citing cold soup and dry couscous.

Innherja ábendingar

  • Don't book the hotel transfer without checking local taxi apps first; you might save 50%.

  • Walk up the dunes for sunset instead of just watching from the pool – the view is 360°.

  • If you have a food allergy, inform them in advance; chefs have been reported to be accommodating.

5 hlutir sem þú ættir að vita áður en þú ferð

  • 💡The 'dunes' are actually rocky hills that can be tough to walk on in flip-flops.

  • 💡Water pressure in the showers can be weak or drainage poor (flooding reported).

  • 💡You might hear your neighbors zipping and unzipping their tents.

  • 💡The 'infinity' pool view sometimes includes construction equipment in the distance.

  • 💡It's a popular spot for influencers, so expect mini-photoshoots happening around the pool.
