Hvorfor folk elsker det

9.3405 anmeldelser
  • The 'Hidden King's Valley' organic breakfast tour via tractor is a legendary, farm-to-table experience
  • Terraces offer front-row seats to the hot air balloon sunrise spectacle without the crowds of public viewpoints
  • Genuine historic character—the owner actually grew up here, and it feels like a village, not a hotel block

Hurtig oversigt: It’s a steep, calf-burning hike up from town, and the cave rooms can be dark and damp, but the views and soul of the place make the slog worth it.

Anmeldt af @tdskytographyI stayed at Kelebek and it was a dream. The room is carved right into the rock! Opening the window to see the fairy chimneys of Göreme was my favorite morning ritual. It feels ancient but super comfortable with the fireplace and big bed.

The hype

Travelers adore the family-run vibe and the magical breakfast spread, but often underestimate the physical exertion required to get to and from the town center.

Reality check

While the 'cave experience' is a bucket-list item, many guests find the actual rooms darker and more claustrophobic than the bright, edited photos suggest.

  • You want a hotel with a story—built into the owner's ancestral home
  • You prioritize a killer breakfast spread with honeycomb dripping from a string
  • You are okay with uneven stone steps and a bit of a climb for the best views

Renhed & Vedligeholdelse

8.2
  • Housekeeping: Daily and generally thorough, though 'cave dust' (fine grit falling from walls) is an endless battle they fight.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Mostly clean, but recurring complaints about 'dirty drain' smells in windowless cave bathrooms due to ventilation issues.
  • Maintenance: Charming wear and tear. Expect some peeling paint or crumbling stone—it's part of the geology, not neglect.
  • Linens & towels: Standard hotel quality, clean but can feel slightly damp due to the cave humidity.
  • Odors & scents: Earthy, mineral smell is omnipresent. Some rooms have a musty or drain-like odor that ventilation struggles to clear.

Før du booker

Godt at vide

  • The outdoor pool is seasonal and unheated—refreshing in July, freezing in October.
  • The 'Organic Breakfast' tractor tour runs roughly April to November; don't expect it in winter.
  • You can bring your pet, but notify them in advance (resident dogs Whisky and Tarçın are on site).

Hvad skal du pakke

  • Grippy hiking shoes (the stone paths are slippery, especially when wet)
  • Moisture-wicking pajamas (cave rooms can get humid)
  • A headlamp or flashlight (walking back up the hill at night can be dim)

Værelses-genie

Bedste valg

  • Fairy Chimney Rooms (stay in an actual ancient rock formation)
  • Presidential Suite #22 (massive, fireplace, great views)
  • Rooms with private balconies for balloon viewing

Værelser at undgå

  • Junior Suite 202 (bright bedroom but windowless, potentially damp bathroom)
  • Rooms directly adjacent to the restaurant kitchen or generator (noise issues)
  • Standard cave rooms if you are claustrophobic

I am looking forward to my stay. Please assign a room as far as possible from the generator and restaurant kitchen to ensure quiet. If available, I would prefer a Fairy Chimney room or one with a private terrace for balloon viewing.

Ofte stillede spørgsmål og skjulte tips

Alt hvad du gerne vil vide før du booker.

Is the pool heated?

No, the outdoor pool is seasonal and unheated. It's great for a dip in the hot summer but purely decorative in the shoulder seasons.

Is there a shuttle to town?

No official scheduled shuttle to town, but staff can call taxis. The walk down is easy (5-10 mins); the walk up is a workout.

Do all rooms have a view?

No. Standard cave rooms often have small windows or face inner courtyards. You must book a Suite or specific category for the valley views.

Is breakfast included?

Yes, and it's excellent. The buffet is extensive, and the optional farm tractor tour breakfast is a highlight.

Is there AC in the rooms?

Most rooms have AC, but true cave rooms stay naturally cool. Conversely, they can be hard to heat perfectly in deep winter.

Can I see the balloons from the hotel?

Yes, the hotel terraces offer fantastic views of the balloons at sunrise, often with fewer crowds than the public viewpoints.

Insidertips

  • Ask for the 'Hidden King's Valley' breakfast tour immediately upon check-in to secure a spot on the tractor.

  • Use the shortcut path through the back of the property to get to town—it's steeper but faster than the road.

  • If the main terrace is crowded for sunrise, check the smaller terrace near the pool for a quieter angle.

5 ting du bør vide før du tager af sted

  • 💡The 'cave smell' is real—it's an earthy, damp scent that clings to fabrics in some lower rooms.

  • 💡The resident dogs, Whisky and Tarçın, basically run the reception.

  • 💡You might wake up to a hot air balloon burner 'whoosh' sound right outside your window at 5 AM.

  • 💡The walk back from dinner in town will make you regret wearing heels or dress shoes.

  • 💡The wifi signal struggles to penetrate thick volcanic rock walls; don't expect Zoom-quality connection in the deep cave rooms.
