The only resort on Tanna with reliable 24-hour electricity and hot water
Direct access to the best snorkeling reef on the island (turtles are regulars)
The kitchen actually knows how to cook Tanna's famous organic beef and lobster
Stutt samantekt: It’s the 'Four Seasons of Tanna' which really just means you get a fan that works, a toilet that flushes, and a bill that rivals Hawaii.
Farið yfir af @Ritzy.ROVER: My honeymoon here was unforgettable. Even when it rained, we just embraced it and swam anyway. The way the sky lights up at sunset made every moment worth it. It’s raw, quiet, and deeply romantic—exactly what we needed.

The hype
The undisputed best hotel on the island with genuinely caring staff, but the rooms are starting to feel a bit 'rustic' for the price point.
Reality check
You will likely feel 'nickle-and-dimed' on the tours and transfers, which are significantly pricier than on the main island.
You are a diver or snorkeler (the house reef is world-class)
You want to see the volcano but refuse to sleep in a treehouse or tent
You appreciate farm-to-table dining (most produce comes from the local market)
Hreinlæti og viðhald
8.9
Housekeeping: Daily service is reliable and friendly; they do a good job keeping the jungle out of your room.
Bathroom hygiene: Generally clean but 'tired' – expect some worn grout or older fixtures, but no grime.
Maintenance: Grounds are manicured to perfection; rooms are solid but showing their age (rust on hinges from sea air).
Linens & towels: Clean and functional, but don't expect 1000-thread count Egyptian cotton.
Odors & scents: Fresh sea air dominates; no musty smells reported thanks to the open-air design.

The resort is only 2km from the airport; transfers are usually free/included.
Electricity is 24/7 (a luxury here) and uses Australian/NZ style plugs (Type I).
There is a PADI dive center on-site (Volcano Island Divers) – the only one on Tanna.
Hvað á að pakka
Reef shoes (essential for entering the water over sharp volcanic rock)
Headlamp or flashlight (paths are dimly lit to preserve the night sky)
Heavy duty insect repellent (mosquitoes can be fierce at dusk)
Warm jacket (it gets surprisingly cold on the volcano rim at night)
Herbergis-Genie
Bestu val
Ocean View Bures (specifically 12A or similar end-units) for the best breeze and privacy
Family Villas if you need more space (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms)
Herbergi til að forðast
Bures closest to the restaurant/pool path if you want total privacy (guests walk past your porch)
Garden view units if you want the full sea-breeze cooling effect
Herbergisbeiðna-Genie – afrita og líma
“I'd love to request an Ocean View Bure as far from the main restaurant path as possible to ensure privacy and maximum sea breeze. A unit with a clear view of the sunset would be ideal.”
Algengar spurningar og falin ábendingar
Allt sem þú vilt vita áður en þú bókar.
Is there really no AC?
Correct. No AC in any room. They are designed with cross-ventilation and fans. It's usually fine at night, but mid-day can be sticky.
Can I swim in front of the hotel?
Yes, but it's reef, not beach. You jump off the jetty or navigate the rocks. The snorkeling is incredible, but it's not for wading.
How do I get to the volcano?
The hotel organizes a daily safari (approx 3-4pm departure). It's a bumpy 1.5-hour 4WD ride each way. You can't really 'self-drive' there.
Is the water safe to drink?
The resort has its own bore/well and claims it is safe (and many guests drink it fine), but sensitive stomachs should stick to bottled water.
Is WiFi available in the rooms?
Technically yes, but it is very slow and unreliable. It works best in the main lounge/bar area.
Are there ATMs nearby?
No. Bring enough Vatu (cash) from Port Vila. The hotel accepts credit cards but charges a surcharge, and local villages/markets are cash only.

✨
Book the 'Taste of Tanna' tour if you're a foodie – it visits the market, coffee factory, and peanut processing plant.
✨
Happy Hour is 5-6pm daily; this is the best time to swap volcano tips with other guests.
✨
Ask for a packed lunch if you're heading out for the day; the kitchen is accommodating but needs notice.
5 hlutir sem þú ættir að vita áður en þú ferð
💡The 'beach' is actually sharp coral rock; you need reef shoes to enter the water safely.
💡You might see whales breaching right from your breakfast table during migration season (July-Oct).
💡The shower pressure is surprisingly good for a remote island, thanks to their own bore.
💡There is a 'Blue Hole' right in the reef in front of the resort – you don't need a boat to find amazing coral.
💡The resort is a 'dry' zone for outside alcohol; they strictly enforce buying drinks from their bar.
