Bakit Ito Minamahal ng Mga Tao

7.888 review
  • Affordable entry point for Water Villas
  • Stunning, massive lagoon for swimming (but not snorkeling)
  • Rustic, 'castaway' jungle vibe rather than concrete luxury

Mabilis na Sumisid: A fading beauty that offers a wallet-friendly Maldives experience, provided you can stomach the lack of a house reef and 1990s plumbing.

Sinuri ng @alexisharmaI stayed at Medhufushi and it’s the perfect hack for a budget-friendly luxury trip. My Beach Villa had this incredible outdoor shower that felt so wild and private. You have to try the split-stay option I recommend—it changes everything!

The hype

Staff are incredibly warm and the lagoon is postcard-perfect, but the facilities are tired and the food gets repetitive fast.

Reality check

The 'smell of sewage' in bathrooms (especially water villas) is a frequent complaint due to aging plumbing.

  • You just want to float in turquoise water and don't need to see fish
  • You prefer a 'no shoes, no news' rustic vibe over polished luxury
  • You are on a tight budget but demand an overwater bungalow

Kalinisan & Pagpapanatili

7
  • Housekeeping: Diligent staff (often praised by name like Ali), but fighting a losing battle against age.
  • Bathroom hygiene: The biggest weak point. Grout is old, and sewage smells from drains are common.
  • Maintenance: Visible wear and tear: peeling paint, rusty mini-fridges, and loose deck boards.
  • Linens & towels: Clean but worn. Don't expect plush, fluffy 5-star towels.
  • Odors & scents: Musty humidity in rooms and occasional sewage whiffs near water villas.

Magandang Malaman

  • The resort is in Meemu Atoll, NOT 'Mafuri' (likely a typo for Maafushi or Muli).
  • Wi-Fi is often free only in public areas (bar/lobby); room access may cost extra.
  • All-inclusive ends at checkout time, not departure time (you might pay for lunch on your last day).

Ano ang dapat dalhin

  • Strong DEET mosquito repellent (fogging happens, but bugs persist)
  • US Dollars in cash (tipping and small purchases; no ATM on island)
  • Your own snorkel gear (rental gear is often old/worn)

Genie ng Kuwarto

Mga Pinakamahusay na Pilihan

  • Sunset Water Villas (even numbers, approx 130-160) for best views
  • Standalone Beach Villas (avoid 'Semi-Detached' for privacy)
  • Room 167 (Beach Villa) noted for quiet location and good beach

Mga Kuwartong Dapat Iwasan

  • Semi-detached beach villas (thin walls, less privacy)
  • Sunrise Water Villas if you are a light sleeper (windier side)

Room Request Genie – kopyahin at i-paste

Requesting a standalone Beach Villa on the sunset side (near room 167 if possible) to avoid wind and seaweed. If in a Water Villa, please ensure it is not close to the generator/staff area.

FAQ & Mga Nakatagong Tip

Lahat ng kailangan mong malaman bago ka magbook.

Is there really no snorkeling from the beach?

Correct. The lagoon is beautiful sand but dead for coral. You must take the daily boat trip to the outer reef to see fish.

How much is the transfer?

Seaplane is approx. $460-$480 per adult roundtrip. Speedboat is cheaper but takes 3 hours and is very rough.

Is alcohol included?

Only if you book the All-Inclusive package. Otherwise, cocktails are ~$12-15 and beer is ~$8.

Is the water safe to drink?

Drink only bottled water. Some guests reported issues with 'jug' water; stick to sealed bottles.

Are there hidden fees?

Yes. 10% service charge + 16% GST on everything. Green tax ($6/person/night) is also standard.

Is it kid-friendly?

Moderately. Beach villas are safe, but there is no dedicated kids' club or extensive programming.

Mga Insider Tips

  • The 'Sunset Pavilion' (Alfresco) has the best view but requires a reservation for dinner.

  • Walk to the sandbank at low tide for incredible photos—it feels like you own the ocean.

  • If you miss the free snorkeling boat, you are stuck on the island with nothing to see underwater.

5 bagay na dapat mong malaman bago ka umalis

  • 💡The gym is a time capsule from 2005 with rusty weights and broken AC.

  • 💡Seaweed can pile up on the sunrise side beaches; staff clean it, but it smells.

  • 💡The 'semi-detached' villas share a wall so thin you can hear your neighbor's conversations.

  • 💡There is a village on a nearby island (Muli) you can visit for a glimpse of real local life.

  • 💡The seaplane terminal lounge for this resort is very basic compared to luxury brands.
