  • Zero resort fees (a unicorn in Hawaii)
  • Walkable to the Polynesian Cultural Center next door
  • Fresh 2024 renovation feels crisp and modern

Mabilis na Sumisid: It’s a dry hotel on Mormon church land, so bring your own booze or stay thirsty.

Sinuri ng @sarahhdoyleI loved using this spot as our North Shore basecamp. It’s way more relaxed than town, and waking up to that mountain-meets-ocean air was incredible. The beach across the street is a hidden gem for sunsets, and the rooms gave us the reliable comfort we needed.

The hype

Families and North Shore explorers love the location and lack of resort fees, but the 'no alcohol' policy catches many off guard.

Reality check

The 'ocean view' rooms are mostly 'highway view with ocean in the distance'—don't overpay for the upgrade.

  • You are visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center (it's next door)
  • You refuse to pay $50/night in resort fees on principle
  • You want a quiet, family-friendly atmosphere away from Waikiki chaos

Kalinisan & Pagpapanatili

  • Housekeeping: Daily service is consistent; staff is frequently praised for being thorough.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Modern and clean following the 2024 renovation; no major mold complaints found.
  • Maintenance: Fresh feel post-renovation; everything works, though walls remain thin.
  • Linens & towels: Crisp, white Marriott standard linens; pool towels are plentiful.
  • Odors & scents: Generally fresh; no 'musty old hotel' smell thanks to the recent updates.

  • Roosters crowing early in the morning (common in rural Hawaii)

  • Breakfast at The Bistro is NOT free (approx. $15-20/person)
  • McDonald's is right next door for a cheaper coffee/breakfast run

Ano ang dapat dalhin

  • Your own wine/beer (buy it at Tamura's in Hauula before arriving)

Genie ng Kuwarto

Mga Pinakamahusay na Pilihan

  • Top floor, Pool View (quietest, best mountain views)
  • King Suite with Sofa Bed (extra space for families)

Mga Kuwartong Dapat Iwasan

  • Ground floor near the parking lot (headlights/noise)
  • Highway-facing rooms (constant traffic drone)

Room Request Genie – kopyahin at i-paste

I would appreciate a quiet room on the top floor facing the pool or mountains, away from Kamehameha Highway and the elevators.

Mga Insider Tips

  • Check the lobby wall for the free cultural class schedule (hula, ukulele, lei making) – they are legit and free.

  • Walk to 'Ken's Fresh Fish' nearby for better poke than you'll find in Waikiki.

  • The 'Mountain View' is often superior to the 'Ocean View' here because it's quieter and the Koolau mountains are stunning.

5 bagay na dapat mong malaman bago ka umalis

  • 💡The 'dry town' vibe means even nearby restaurants might not serve alcohol.

  • 💡You are right next to BYU Hawaii, so the area feels more like a college campus than a resort town.

  • 💡The hotel has a 'hospitality room' for showers if you have a late flight after checkout.

  • 💡Uber/Lyft can be very hard to find this far north; a rental car is mandatory.

  • 💡The roosters in Laie are wild and loud—they will wake you up at 5 AM.
