Varawal Jawai Leopard Safari Camp

$120-200/ ночь

Смело бронируйте, если You want an intimate, family-run leopard safari that feels like staying at a friend's farm rather than a commercial resort.

Почему людям нравится

  • Host Pushpendra Singh's encyclopedic knowledge of local leopards
  • Authentic home-cooked Rajasthani meals from the host's mother
  • Only 4 tents ensure a private, uncrowded safari experience

Краткий обзор: This is a glamping farmstay in the middle of nowhere, not a polished 5-star hotel—come for the cats, not the room service.

Подтверждено @thatgirl_nikitaaI honestly didn't expect to get this close to leopards! The safari was intense in the best way, but coming back to a proper bed and that home-cooked Rajasthani food made it perfect. You have to do the evening wildlife session—it changed how I saw everything.

The hype

Travelers universally adore the hospitality and the high success rate of leopard sightings, often calling it the highlight of their Rajasthan trip.

Reality check

The WiFi is functional but slow, and the 'roads' leading to the property are essentially bumpy dirt tracks.

  • You prioritize wildlife sightings over swimming pools
  • You enjoy communal dining and chatting with hosts
  • You want to support local conservationists rather than big hotel chains

Чистота и уход

9.5
  • Housekeeping: Impeccable. Tents are swept daily and kept dust-free despite the arid environment.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Spotless western bathrooms. No mold, clean grout, fresh towels.
  • Maintenance: Excellent. Zippers on tents work, ACs are functional, furniture is sturdy.
  • Linens & towels: Crisp white linens, surprisingly high quality for a tented camp.
  • Odors & scents: Fresh air and the scent of dry earth/campfire. No mustiness.

Перед бронированием

Полезно знать

  • Safaris are extra: Budget approx ₹4,500-5,500 per gypsy trip (up to 6 people).
  • Cash is king: Bring cash for tips and safari payments as the card machine signal can be spotty.
  • BYOB: Alcohol is not sold on-site; bring your own if you want a sundowner.

Что взять с собой

  • Binoculars (the camp has some, but your own are better)
  • Warm layers (fleece/jacket) for morning safaris, even in March
  • Dust mask or scarf (the open-top gypsy rides get very dusty)

Лучший выбор

  • Tent 'Neelam' or 'Ziya' for slightly better privacy and views of the farm

Номера, которых следует избегать

  • None are bad, but tents closest to the kitchen tent might hear morning prep noises earlier.

Hi Pushpendra, we are so excited to visit. If possible, could we request the 'Neelam' tent or whichever is furthest from the generator for maximum quiet? We'd also love to book a morning safari.

FAQ и советы

Всё, что вы действительно хотели бы знать перед бронированием.

Is it actually in Ranakpur?

No. It is in Varawal/Bera, about 50-90km (1.5-2 hours) from Ranakpur Jain Temple. Do not book this if you want to walk to the temple.

Are safaris included in the room rate?

No, safaris are charged separately per gypsy (approx ₹4,500-5,500). You usually book the whole vehicle.

Is there AC in the tents?

Yes, all Swiss Tents have air conditioning and attached western bathrooms.

Can I bring my pet?

Yes, small pets (<20 lbs) are allowed, but must be leashed in public areas. Confirm with the host first.

What is the food like?

Home-cooked North Indian and Rajasthani meals. Fixed menu, buffet style. Vegetarian friendly.

Is there a pool?

No pool. This is a dry landscape camp focused on safaris.

Советы инсайдеров

  • Ask for the 'Theme Breakfast' on the Jawai Dam—it's a private setup by the water and worth the extra cost.

  • The host, Pushpendra, is a serious photographer; ask him for camera settings advice before the safari.

  • Visit the 'Leopard Temple' (Dev Giri) nearby where priests claim leopards visit peacefully.

5 вещей, которые нужно знать перед поездкой

  • 💡The 'roads' are barely roads; prepare for a bumpy final 20 minutes.

  • 💡You might see leopards right from the camp perimeter if you're lucky.

  • 💡Hot water is available but relies on geysers that need a few minutes to heat up.

  • 💡There is no TV in the tents (intentionally).

  • 💡Mobile network is decent for calls but data can be 3G speeds.
