Bakit Ito Minamahal ng Mga Tao

9.563 review
  • Rare 'no-stairs' access from the main road (a unicorn in Firostefani)
  • Gigi, the host who acts like your personal concierge and travel agent
  • Breakfast served privately on your balcony every morning

Mabilis na Sumisid: It's a traditional cave hotel with five-star views and three-star plumbing, but you're here for the balcony, not the bathroom.

Sinuri ng @WithtiarneI spent every evening on my private terrace watching the sun dip below the horizon. It was so peaceful compared to the busy streets, and the view of the caldera is just insane. Definitely the most romantic spot I've stayed in.

The hype

Guests are obsessed with the location and Gigi's service, often calling it the best value for a caldera view.

Reality check

The 'cave' design means bathrooms can be dark and ventilation is tricky, leading to occasional humidity odors.

  • You hate climbing 100 steps to get to your hotel room
  • You prefer a quiet balcony breakfast over a crowded buffet
  • You want to be walking distance to Fira's nightlife but sleep in silence

Kalinisan & Pagpapanatili

9
  • Housekeeping: Daily and diligent. Guests consistently praise the staff for keeping dust at bay.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Generally spotless, though grout in cave bathrooms can show age/wear quickly.
  • Maintenance: Newly renovated feel, though plumbing can be temperamental (slow drains are common in Santorini).
  • Linens & towels: Fresh and crisp, though not ultra-luxury thread count.
  • Odors & scents: Occasional musty/damp scent due to cave ventilation, usually masked by fresh air.

  • Internal plumbing/pipes from adjacent units
  • Occasional passersby on the footpath (though set back enough to be muffled)

Magandang Malaman

  • Reception is not 24/7; communicate your arrival time in advance
  • The tap water is not potable; stick to bottled water
  • There are no on-site dining options for lunch/dinner, but Firostefani's best restaurants are 2 minutes away

Ano ang dapat dalhin

  • Moisture-wicking pajamas (cave rooms can get humid)
  • Grippy sandals for the caldera path
  • A power bank (outlets can be scarce in older cave rooms)

Genie ng Kuwarto

Mga Pinakamahusay na Pilihan

  • Superior Suite (Room 6) for the best balance of privacy and unblocked views
  • Master Suite (Room 1) if you absolutely need a private hot tub

Mga Kuwartong Dapat Iwasan

  • Junior Suite (Room 4) has a patio that isn't 100% private
  • Any unit facing the 'abandoned building' side (request specifically to avoid this view)

Room Request Genie – kopyahin at i-paste

Hi Gigi, we are so excited to stay! If possible, could we please request a room that does NOT face the abandoned building side? We would love one of the suites with the most private balcony possible, like Room 6 if available.

FAQ & Mga Nakatagong Tip

Lahat ng kailangan mong malaman bago ka magbook.

Is there a pool?

No. There is no communal pool. Select suites have private hot tubs, but that's it.

Is breakfast included?

Yes, a continental breakfast is delivered to your room/balcony daily. It's 'old school' but plentiful.

How many stairs are there?

Surprisingly few. Unlike most caldera hotels, you can access the reception and some rooms from the main road with almost no stairs.

Can I see the sunset from my room?

Yes, but in June/July the sun sets behind the Imerovigli cliff rather than into the sea from this specific angle. Shoulder season offers better direct sunset views.

Is it family friendly?

Not really. It's designed for couples, and the cliffside location + lack of pool makes it boring/unsafe for kids.

Is there parking?

No on-site parking. There is a free public lot nearby, but it fills up fast. Ask Gigi for help with transfers instead.

Mga Insider Tips

  • Ask Gigi to book your airport transfer; she often secures better rates and reliable drivers who know exactly where to drop you.

  • Walk north to Imerovigli (15 mins) for the sunset if the angle from your balcony is blocked by the headland.

  • The 'hot tubs' are heated, making this a fantastic option for October/April visits when the main pools elsewhere are freezing.

5 bagay na dapat mong malaman bago ka umalis

  • 💡The 'cave smell' is real—it's not dirty, it's just geology. Air out your room daily.

  • 💡You can hear the donkeys on the path below in the morning (it's charming until it's not).

  • 💡The WiFi is surprisingly fast for a cave, thanks to recent upgrades.

  • 💡You are literally 2 minutes from the famous 'Three Bells of Fira' church photo spot.

  • 💡The 'Junior Suite' patio is right next to a walkway, so don't expect total privacy there.
