  • The 150-meter swimming pool (longest in the Maldives) is a legitimate showstopper
  • Direct access to 'Chickens' surf break means you can paddle out from the resort
  • Speedboat transfer takes just 30 minutes from Male, saving you the seaplane hassle

Stutt samantekt: The hard product is stunning and the surf access is world-class, but the house reef is underwhelming for a resort at this price point.

Farið yfir af @martadtravelsI spent my days surfing the Chickens break right off the island and my evenings relaxing on my private deck. The mix of adrenaline and pure luxury here is unmatched. Riding bikes down the jetty at sunset was a highlight I'll never forget.

The hype

Guests are blown away by the massive pool, the spacious villas, and the food at Mar-Umi, but many note the snorkeling is lackluster right off the beach.

Reality check

While the speedboat transfer is convenient, you can sometimes see the lights of Male or other islands, so it doesn't feel as 'middle of nowhere' as more remote atolls.

  • You surf (or want to learn) and want luxury access to a world-class break
  • You hate seaplanes and want to be in your villa 45 minutes after landing
  • You prefer a massive, social pool scene over a quiet, tiny plunge pool

Áður en þú bókar

Gott að vita

  • The resort is in the North Malé Atoll, meaning a quick 30-minute speedboat ride ($130-$260/person) instead of a costly seaplane.
  • Half-board or All-Inclusive plans are virtually mandatory to avoid sticker shock at checkout.
  • The 'Chickens' surf break works best from May to October.

Hvað á að pakka

  • Reef-safe sunscreen (expensive on island)
  • Rash guard for surfing or long snorkeling trips
  • Water shoes (some areas have broken coral/rocks)

Herbergis-Genie

Bestu val

  • Sunset Water Villas for the best views and privacy
  • Beach Villas with Pool for families (safer for kids, direct sand access)

Herbergi til að forðast

  • Water Villas if you have mobility issues (slippery stairs)
  • Villas closest to the arrival jetty if you want maximum seclusion

Herbergisbeiðna-Genie – afrita og líma

I would love a Sunset Water Villa that is further away from the main jetty for maximum privacy. If possible, please ensure the villa stairs have been recently cleaned/checked for algae.

Algengar spurningar og falin ábendingar

Allt sem þú vilt vita áður en þú bókar.

Is the snorkeling good at the house reef?

Honestly, no. It's shallow and has a lot of dead coral. You'll see some fish and maybe a shark, but for the 'National Geographic' experience, you need to book a boat excursion.

How much is the transfer from the airport?

Speedboat transfers cost approximately $130-$260 per person round-trip, which is significantly cheaper and faster than a seaplane.

Is it kid-friendly?

Yes, very. The Kuda Fiyo Kids Club is excellent, and the massive pool has shallow zones perfect for children.

Can I surf here?

Absolutely. The resort has direct access to 'Chickens' break, one of the best left-handers in the Maldives. They also offer lessons.

Do I need a power adapter?

Villas usually have universal outlets, but bringing a Type G (UK style) adapter is a safe bet just in case.

Is the water villa safe for toddlers?

Generally, no. The open decks and slippery stairs make Beach Villas a much safer and more relaxing choice for parents with young kids.

Innherja ábendingar

  • Book a table at Mar-Umi (Japanese-Peruvian) for sunset—it's the best view and food on the island.

  • The 'Sunrise' side of the island generally has calmer water for swimming than the 'Sunset' side.

  • You can often spot dolphins on the speedboat transfer, so keep your camera ready.

5 hlutir sem þú ættir að vita áður en þú ferð

  • 💡The stairs from the water villas can get dangerously slippery with algae.

  • 💡You can see the lights of Thulusdhoo (local island) from parts of the resort, breaking the 'castaway' illusion.

  • 💡The 'All Inclusive' plan has some exclusions on premium alcohol and certain menu items.

  • 💡The pool is so long (150m) that you can actually get a proper workout swimming laps.

  • 💡The vegetation is still maturing in some areas since the resort is relatively new (opened 2021).
