Miksi ihmiset rakastuvat sitä

9.831 arvosteluita
  • The 'Mini Versailles' interior design is unapologetically opulent
  • Everything is included: laundry, mini-bar, transfers, and house wines
  • Service so personalized they might have your favorite flowers waiting

Pikakatsaus: It’s theatrically expensive and over-the-top, but unlike most 'palace' hotels, this one actually feels like a home—albeit a billionaire's home.

Arvioinut @malouvoyages_I stayed at La Residence and it was like living in a painting. The mountain views from my bed were insane, and having peacocks join me for breakfast was a core memory. It's pricey, but for a honeymoon or special treat, it is absolutely worth the splurge.

The hype

Reviewers universally worship the staff and the 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude.

Reality check

Some foodies feel the on-site dinner menu, while good, doesn't quite match the culinary heights of Franschhoek's top independent restaurants.

  • You love maximalist decor (chandeliers in bathrooms, Persian rugs everywhere)
  • You hate nickel-and-diming—free laundry and shuttles make a huge difference
  • You want absolute privacy and security on a gated estate

Siisteys ja kunnossapito

10
  • Housekeeping: Flawless. Rooms are serviced multiple times a day. Turndown service includes gifts/treats.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Immaculate. Marble surfaces are polished to a mirror shine. No grout issues found.
  • Maintenance: Perfect. The property is constantly maintained; no peeling paint or broken fixtures reported.
  • Linens & towels: Plush, high-thread-count Egyptian cotton. Towels are thick and fluffy.
  • Odors & scents: Fresh flowers (lilies/roses) everywhere. No musty smells.

Ennen kuin varaat

Hyvä tietää

  • Full laundry service is COMPLIMENTARY—pack light and get everything washed before you leave.
  • The hotel offers a free shuttle into Franschhoek village (5 mins away) anytime you want.
  • Rates include breakfast, snacks, full mini-bar, and 'house' wines (which are excellent local blends).

Mitä pakata

  • A swimsuit for the infinity pool (even in shoulder season, it's heated)
  • Smart-casual dinner wear—people dress up for dinner here
  • Walking shoes for exploring the 30-acre estate and vineyards

Huone Genie

Parhaat valinnot

  • Frangipani Suite (Ground floor, secluded, mirrored 'Versailles' bathroom)
  • Maharani Suite (Upstairs, Indian-themed, double balconies with insane views)
  • Armani Suite (More masculine/neutral tones if the floral decor is too much)

Huoneet, joita kannattaa välttää

  • Ground floor rooms near the main terrace if you want total privacy from other guests dining outside

Huonepyynnön Genie – kopioi ja liitä

I would love to request a suite with a private balcony facing the mountains. If possible, we prefer the 'Frangipani' or 'Maharani' suites for their unique decor and privacy.

FAQ & Piilotut vinkit

Kaikki mitä haluat todella tietää ennen varaamista.

Is food included?

Breakfast and snacks are included. Lunch and dinner are à la carte and extra, though 'house' wines and drinks are free.

Can I walk to town?

Technically yes (20-30 mins), but the road lacks sidewalks in parts. Use the free luxury shuttle.

Is it kid-friendly?

Children 10+ are welcome in the main hotel. Younger kids are allowed only in the private Vineyard Suites (villas).

Is there a gym?

Yes, a small but functional gym with air-conditioning and basic cardio/weight equipment.

What is the 'Conservation Levy'?

A daily fee (~$13 pp) that goes towards local community upliftment and environmental projects.

Do I need a car?

No. The hotel transfers you to town, and you can book drivers for wine tours. Uber is spotty in the valley.

Sisäpiirin vinkit

  • Ask for a table on the 'Loggia' for sunset drinks—the view over the dam is better than from the main dining room.

  • The 'house wine' included in your rate is often a high-quality label made specifically for the hotel—don't feel pressured to buy the expensive reserve list.

  • You can order breakfast to your room at no extra charge; eating on your private balcony is superior to the dining hall.

5 asiaa, jotka sinun pitää tietää ennen matkaasi

  • 💡The 'mini-bar' is actually a full-sized cabinet stocked with full bottles of spirits, not just tiny airplane bottles.

  • 💡The bathroom amenities are often full-sized Molton Brown or Charlotte Rhys bottles.

  • 💡There are wild peacocks roaming the grounds—they are beautiful but can be loud.

  • 💡The owner, Liz Biden, personally styled every room, which is why it feels like a home, not a corporate hotel.

  • 💡You can fish in the dam on the property if you ask for gear.
