Equity Point Marrakech

You want the social energy of a hostel with the architecture of a luxury riad, and you don't mind navigating a maze to find it.

  • Stunning traditional Riad architecture with a central courtyard pool
  • Massive rooftop terrace with views of the Atlas Mountains and alcohol service
  • A true 'oasis' of calm inside the chaotic Medina

It's a gorgeous labyrinth that feels like a resort until you realize the pool is freezing and you have to pay to rent a towel.

بررسی شده توسط @blackgermantravelerI was blown away! It feels like a luxury riad, not a hostel. The pool is stunning, and I felt so safe traveling solo. Plus, getting a massage on-site was a dream. You can walk to the main square in minutes. Highly recommend for the vibe and value!

The hype

Travelers are blown away by the beauty of the courtyard and rooftop, often calling it the 'nicest hostel they've ever seen.'

Reality check

The 'magnet system' for reserving specific beds in dorms is completely ignored by other guests, leading to awkward confrontations.

  • You're a solo traveler wanting to meet people without the 'frat party' vibe
  • You want a photo-ready Riad experience on a budget
  • You appreciate having a bar and food available on-site after a long day

8.5
  • Housekeeping: Daily cleaning is reliable, though under-bed dust bunnies are common.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Generally clean tiled bathrooms, though grout can be worn and shower curtains sometimes have mildew spots.
  • Maintenance: Beautifully restored Riad, but expect minor issues like loose door handles or dim bulbs.
  • Linens & towels: Sheets are clean but basic. Towels are not fluffy and cost extra for dorm guests.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells of incense/cleaning products; older rooms can have a faint musty smell due to lack of ventilation.

  • Echoing conversations from the central courtyard
  • Doors slamming in the tiled hallways
  • Early morning call to prayer (unavoidable in the Medina)

  • City tax is ~€2.45 per person/night and is often collected in CASH upon arrival
  • Towel rental costs ~€1-2 for dorm guests (included in privates)
  • Luggage storage is free until 2 PM, then charged at ~30 MAD (€3)

  • Earplugs (essential for the echoing courtyard)
  • Flip-flops (for the shared showers and pool area)
  • A portable power bank (outlets aren't always perfectly placed in older rooms)

  • Private Doubles on the upper floors for more light and less courtyard noise
  • 4-bed dorms (less chaotic than the 8-10 bed options)

  • Ground floor rooms near the reception/pool (high traffic and noise)
  • 10-bed mixed dorms if you value personal space or air circulation

I would love a room on an upper floor, away from the main courtyard/pool area to minimize noise. If possible, a room with a window facing the outer alley rather than the internal atrium.

Is it hard to find?

Yes, extremely. It is hidden in a maze of narrow alleys. Do not trust Google Maps. Book the hostel's transfer or pay a local guide (20-30 MAD) to lead you from the main square.

Is there alcohol?

Yes, unlike many traditional Riads, they have a license and serve beer and wine on the rooftop and in the restaurant.

Is the pool heated?

No. It is refreshing in the scorching summer (July/August) but ice-cold the rest of the year.

Can I bring a guest?

Strictly no. Security is tight and non-guests are not allowed past the reception.

Is breakfast included?

Usually yes. It's a basic spread of Moroccan pancakes (msemen), bread, jam, coffee, and tea.

Is it safe at night?

The hostel itself is very secure (24/7 reception, cameras). The alleyway leading to it is dark and can feel intimidating, but is generally safe if you stay alert.

  • The 'magnet' board to choose your bed is a lie; just take whatever empty bed you find and hope for the best.

  • The rooftop has the best Wi-Fi signal if your room is a dead zone.

  • Book the airport transfer for your first arrival—it includes a 'cart driver' who physically guides you through the maze to the door.

  • 💡The 'gym' listed on some booking sites is virtually non-existent or just a single machine.

  • 💡You have to pay a deposit (~€10) for your room key.

  • 💡The showers have good pressure but the hot water can be temperamental during peak morning hours.

  • 💡There are cats everywhere (a pro for some, a con for those with allergies).

  • 💡The lighting in the rooms is 'atmospheric' (read: very dim), making it hard to find things in your bag.
