Miksi ihmiset rakastuvat sitä

8.084 arvosteluita
  • Legitimate royal history—this was the Maharaja's actual residence
  • The central courtyard dinners with live folk music and puppet shows
  • Massive rooms with high ceilings that make you feel tiny

Pikakatsaus: A stunning architectural masterpiece that relies heavily on its past glory to distract you from the dated plumbing and pigeons at the pool.

Arvioinut @travel.diaries_98I stayed at this incredible palace in Bikaner and it blew my mind. The architecture is stunning, and the rooms feel like stepping back into the 1900s. If you love history and vintage vibes, you have to visit. It’s easily one of the most photogenic places I’ve ever been.

The hype

Travelers are blown away by the red sandstone grandeur and 'royal' feeling but often let down by maintenance issues like torn towels or slow service.

Reality check

The 'vintage' charm extends to the plumbing—expect lukewarm water and bathrooms that smell faintly of drains.

  • You're a history buff who forgives dust for the sake of atmosphere
  • You want Instagram shots that look like a Wes Anderson movie set
  • You enjoy slow, ceremonial dining experiences

Siisteys ja kunnossapito

6.5
  • Housekeeping: Hit or miss. Daily service exists, but expect dust in corners and sometimes forgotten trays in hallways.
  • Bathroom hygiene: The weak point. Complaints of drain smells, stained grout, and old bathtubs are common.
  • Maintenance: Struggling. Peeling paint and finicky plumbing are the trade-off for the heritage status.
  • Linens & towels: Often described as 'worn' or 'graying' rather than crisp white.
  • Odors & scents: Generally old-building musty, with occasional whiffs of drain issues in bathrooms.

Ennen kuin varaat

Hyvä tietää

  • The vintage elevator has manual doors that can be tricky to operate
  • Hot water can be temperamental; run the tap for a while
  • Room service is 24/7 but operates on 'island time'

Mitä pakata

  • Earplugs for wedding season nights
  • A light jacket for the drafty corridors in winter
  • Hand sanitizer (dust is part of the decor)

Huone Genie

Parhaat valinnot

  • Heritage Suites on the ground floor for direct courtyard access (if you don't mind noise)
  • The 'Gold Room' (often a suite) for the most ornate, preserved wall art

Huoneet, joita kannattaa välttää

  • Top floor rooms if you struggle with stairs (elevator is spotty)
  • Standard/Palace rooms with 'courtyard view' if you are a light sleeper
  • Any room described as 'internal' or without a view

Huonepyynnön Genie – kopioi ja liitä

I am booking this stay to experience the history of the palace. Please assign a room with an external view and functional windows. I would like to avoid any rooms that are internal-facing or require climbing multiple flights of stairs if the elevator is out of service.

FAQ & Piilotut vinkit

Kaikki mitä haluat todella tietää ennen varaamista.

Is it actually haunted?

Maybe. Guests and staff whisper about shadows near the throne room and a 'royal but creepy' vibe, but no confirmed ghost sightings.

Is there a pool?

Yes, an outdoor pool, but it's often frequented by local pigeons and isn't heated.

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely not. The hotel has a strict no-pets policy.

Is breakfast included?

Usually yes, but if not, the buffet costs around ₹900 per person.

Does the WiFi work?

It's free but spotty in the thick-walled rooms; works best in the courtyard and lobby.

Is there a spa?

Technically yes ('Health Club/Massage'), but it's basic. Don't expect a full wellness retreat menu.

Sisäpiirin vinkit

  • Ask to see the Billiards Room—it's often locked but is a stunning time capsule.

  • The 'clock tower' entrance is a great photo op, even though the clock hands don't move.

  • Request a room tour before accepting your key; conditions vary wildly between renovated and 'vintage' rooms.

5 asiaa, jotka sinun pitää tietää ennen matkaasi

  • 💡The elevator is a manual-door antique that feels like a trap from a 1920s movie.

  • 💡Some 'Palace Rooms' feel like dungeons with high windows you can't see out of.

  • 💡You will likely be woken up by the sound of pigeons or peacocks, not an alarm.

  • 💡The mandatory New Year's Gala fee is a shocker if you aren't expecting it.

  • 💡Corridors can look messy with room service trays left out for hours.
