Mont Kufri Resort

$35-65/ nuit

Réservez si You want a budget-friendly Himalayan sunrise from your bed and don't care about 'resort' frills like a swimming pool.

Pourquoi les gens l'adorent

  • Floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping valley views
  • Peaceful location away from Shimla's chaotic Mall Road
  • Helpful staff (shoutout to Ajay) who arrange bonfires

En bref : A decent budget hotel masquerading as a 'resort'—come for the view, bring your own booze, and lower your expectations for the food.

Évalué par @RishabNag3552339I was a little worried when I saw the unfinished elevator shaft, but the moment I stepped into Room 504, it didn't matter. The panoramic mountain views from that balcony are some of the best I've seen in Shimla. It feels like a private hideaway in the clouds.

Ce que les clients qui ont séjourné ici ont dit

The hype

Guests are blown away by the valley views and sunrise but consistently disappointed by the food quality and misleading 'resort' label.

Reality check

You will likely freeze without a heater in winter, and they charge extra for it.

  • You prioritize a room with a view over luxury amenities
  • You are traveling on a budget (under $50/night)
  • You want a quiet base for hiking, far from the tourist crowds

Propreté et entretien

6.5
  • Housekeeping: Daily service is available but often superficial. Dust on top of wardrobes and under beds is common.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Functional but dated. Complaints about slow-draining showers and occasional musty smells.
  • Maintenance: Signs of wear and tear. Peeling paint in corners and 'ongoing construction' dust in hallways.
  • Linens & towels: Generally clean but worn. Don't expect plush, fluffy white towels.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells of cleaning fluid; rooms can smell damp/musty if not aired out.

Avant de réserver

Bon à savoir

  • The hotel is 20km (1 hour drive) from Shimla Mall Road — it is NOT in Shimla city center.
  • Heaters often incur an extra daily charge (~₹300-500).
  • WiFi is spotty; download movies before you arrive.

Quoi emporter

  • Warm layers (even in summer, nights are cold)
  • Snacks and alcohol (no bar and limited shop options nearby)
  • Motion sickness meds for the winding drive up

Génie des chambres

Meilleurs choix

  • Executive Room Valley View (Top Floor) — essential for privacy and unblocked sunrise views

Chambres à éviter

  • Ground floor rooms — views are blocked by trees/construction and they lack privacy
  • Rooms near the reception — noisy from check-in traffic

Génie de demande de chambre – copier & coller

I am booking the Executive Valley View room. Please ensure I am assigned a room on the highest possible floor for privacy and an unobstructed view, away from any ongoing construction work.

FAQ et astuces cachées

Tout ce que vous voulez vraiment savoir avant de réserver.

Is there really a swimming pool?

No. It is a pool table in a game room. Do not bring your swimsuit expecting a dip.

Does the hotel serve alcohol?

No. The hotel does not have a liquor license. You can consume your own alcohol in your room.

Is the food good?

Hit or miss. Stick to simple Indian staples like Dal Makhani and Parathas. Avoid 'Continental' or 'Chinese' dishes which reviews consistently rate as terrible.

How is the road to the hotel?

The final stretch to Mundaghat is narrow, winding, and can be scary for flat-land drivers. In winter, it can be icy.

Is there central heating?

No. They provide electric space heaters, often for an additional rental fee.

Can I see the Himalayas from my room?

Yes, if you book a 'Valley View' room. The view is the property's single best feature.

Conseils d'initiés

  • Ask for 'Ajay' at the front desk; multiple reviews cite him as the most helpful staff member for arranging transport or bonfires.

  • Walk 10 minutes down the road to the local 'dhaba' for cheaper and tastier tea/maggi than the hotel restaurant.

  • The sunrise is visible directly from the bed in the Executive rooms—leave your curtains open.

5 choses à savoir avant de partir

  • 💡The 'resort' is actually a single building with a parking lot, not a sprawling property.

  • 💡Hot water is via geyser (water heater) and can run out if you take long showers.

  • 💡Monkeys are aggressive in this area; do not leave food on the balcony.

  • 💡There is no elevator; be prepared to climb stairs if you want the best views.

  • 💡The 'Game Room' is often locked or equipment is broken/missing.
