Niyama Private Islands Maldives

$690-1750+ / nuit

Réservez si You want a high-energy Maldives luxury trip that mixes world-class surfing with serious family perks—and you don't mind skipping the house reef.

Pourquoi les gens l'adorent

9.382 avis
  • Exclusive 'Vodi' surf break accessible directly from the shore
  • Subsix underwater restaurant and nightclub (yes, glow parties)
  • Twin-island layout ('Chill' & 'Play') separates romance from family chaos

En bref : If you expect to see a National Geographic aquarium the moment you dip your toe in the water, you will be disappointed—the house reef is mediocre at best.

Évalué par @gabrielfelixphotographyMy stay at Niyama Private Islands was a total dream. Waking up in an overwater villa and jumping straight into that crystal-clear lagoon was the highlight of my year. If you want total privacy and insane drone shots, this is the place.

Ce que les clients qui ont séjourné ici ont dit

The hype

A massive, activity-packed playground where the food is exceptional and the boredom threshold is non-existent.

Reality check

The 'house reef' is largely dead coral; avid snorkelers feel let down unless they pay for boat excursions.

  • You surf (or want to learn) without fighting crowds
  • You have active kids who need a top-tier club (12 months to 12 years)
  • You get bored easily and need 9 different restaurants and a game simulator

Propreté et entretien

9.5
  • Housekeeping: Twice daily, military precision. They even rake the sand outside your villa every morning.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Immaculate. Outdoor showers are scrubbed daily to prevent algae buildup.
  • Maintenance: Generally excellent, though salt air takes a toll; ongoing renovations are addressing tired spots.
  • Linens & towels: Crisp, high-thread-count, and plentiful. Beach towels are thick and fluffy.
  • Odors & scents: Fresh ocean breeze, lemongrass in the spa, no musty smells reported.

  • Seaplane takeoffs (daytime only)
  • Kids Club activities (if staying near the 'Play' center)

Avant de réserver

Bon à savoir

  • The resort is huge; you will rely on your assigned bicycle to get around
  • Green tax is $6 per person/night on top of rates
  • Seaplane transfers cost ~$780 roundtrip per adult

Quoi emporter

  • Rash guard and reef booties (sharp coral, strong sun)
  • Your own snorkel gear (resort gear is fine, but fit matters)
  • White outfit for the 'Glow Party' at Subsix

Génie des chambres

Meilleurs choix

  • Beach Pool Villa #14 for prime people-watching and central access
  • Deluxe Beach Pool Villas for massive outdoor bathrooms and privacy
  • Villas #2-23 for the best sunset views

Chambres à éviter

  • Overwater Villas if you have toddlers (safety hazard)
  • Villas near the seaplane arrival jetty if you want to sleep in past 7 AM

Génie de demande de chambre – copier & coller

I am requesting a renovated Beach Pool Villa on the 'Chill' island side, specifically in the range of #2-23 for sunset views, away from any active construction or maintenance works.

FAQ et astuces cachées

Tout ce que vous voulez vraiment savoir avant de réserver.

Is the snorkeling really that bad?

It's not 'bad', it's just not 'Maldives good'. The house reef is bleached and quiet. You need to take a boat to the outer reef for the real show.

Can I surf if I'm a beginner?

Yes, the lagoon has gentle spots, but the main 'Vodi' break is a legit left-hander that can get heavy. There's a surf school on site.

Which island is better, Chill or Play?

Chill is for spa, overwater villas, and quiet dining. Play is for the kids club, surfing, and beach villas. Couples usually prefer Chill.

Is the underwater restaurant worth the money?

For the experience? Yes. For the food? It's good, but you're paying for the fish viewing. Go for the glow party or lunch to save cash.

Are there mosquitoes?

They fog twice daily, so it's manageable, but bring spray for dusk, especially if dining at Tribal (sand floor/jungle setting).

How much is food?

Expensive. Expect $40+ for mains and $20+ for cocktails. Half-board or full-board plans are highly recommended to cap costs.

Conseils d'initiés

  • Check the TV in your room for a live feed of the surf conditions at Vodi break.

  • Order the 'Dawa' cocktail at Tribal—it's mixed tableside by a 'Maasai warrior'.

  • The popcorn machine in the room is free and restocked daily—great for movie nights.

5 choses à savoir avant de partir

  • 💡The 'Thakuru' (butler) service is via WhatsApp and they are incredibly responsive.

  • 💡You can actually walk between the two islands at low tide if you don't want to bike.

  • 💡The outdoor bathrooms in Beach Villas are literally the size of a small apartment.

  • 💡Seaplanes are loud and land frequently; it's not a 'dead silent' island.

  • 💡The 'Deli' serves homemade ice cream that rivals the fancy desserts in the main restaurants.
