Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Varaa tämä, jos You want the closest thing to an African safari without a passport and don't mind trading theme park proximity for giraffes outside your window.

Miksi ihmiset rakastuvat sitä

  • Waking up to zebras, giraffes, and ankole cattle grazing 30 feet from your balcony
  • Jiko and Boma offer arguably the best resort dining on Disney property
  • The lobby is a jaw-dropping architectural masterpiece that smells like woodsmoke and spices

Pikakatsaus: It is a stunning, immersive destination resort that happens to be inconveniently far from everything except Animal Kingdom.

Arvioinut @jaymichaels123I was completely transported to Africa the second I walked into the lobby—the smells and sounds are unreal! My room was totally 'gorge' with super comfy beds, but the best part was definitely the balcony where I could spot animals in the distance. Disney magic at its finest!

The hype

The animals and atmosphere are magical, but the rooms are showing their age and the hallways feel endless.

Reality check

You will walk. A lot. The 'horseshoe' design means your room could be a 15-20 minute trek from the lobby.

  • You are an animal lover who plans to spend significant time actually at the resort
  • You appreciate a darker, moodier, more romantic atmosphere over bright 'Disney' colors
  • You are a foodie—the on-site dining is destination-worthy

Siisteys ja kunnossapito

8.2
  • Housekeeping: Daily service is standard. Generally good, but reports of missed dusting on high shelves.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Clean but dated. Grout lines in Jambo House are showing age before the 2026 renovation.
  • Maintenance: Furniture is scuffed and carpets are worn in Jambo House. Kidani is currently a construction zone.
  • Linens & towels: Standard Disney quality—clean, white, but not luxury plush.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells amazing (woodsmoke/spice). Rooms can smell slightly musty due to age and humidity.

Ennen kuin varaat

Hyvä tietää

  • You do NOT need a Savanna View room to see animals; there are massive viewing windows and balconies in the lobby and hallways.
  • The 'Sherberth Road' shortcut is your secret back door to off-property dining and Target (5 mins away).
  • Parking is FREE for resort guests, which saves you ~$25-30/night compared to off-site hotels.

Mitä pakata

  • Binoculars (even if you have a Savanna room, you'll want them)
  • A high-quality poncho (Disney charges $12+ for flimsy ones)
  • Power strip (older rooms have limited outlets until the renovation is complete)

Huone Genie

Parhaat valinnot

  • Savanna View (obviously)—it is the whole point of staying here
  • Kudu Trail, 3rd Floor (Lobby Level) for easier access to the lobby without elevator hops

Huoneet, joita kannattaa välttää

  • Standard View rooms on the far ends of the Zebra or Kudu trails (too much walking)
  • Pool View rooms if you are a light sleeper (daytime music and screaming kids)

Huonepyynnön Genie – kopioi ja liitä

I would love to request a room on the Kudu Trail, ideally on the 3rd Floor (Lobby Level). If possible, an odd-numbered room overlooking the 'people pens' for a partial savanna view would be magical.

FAQ & Piilotut vinkit

Kaikki mitä haluat todella tietää ennen varaamista.

Is the Savanna View worth the extra $150+ per night?

Yes. If you are staying here, go all in. Waking up to a giraffe is the singular reason to book this hotel.

How bad is the bus situation really?

It's not 'bad' but it is isolated. Magic Kingdom is a solid 20-minute ride, and buses can be infrequent mid-day. Rideshare is highly recommended.

Can I walk to Animal Kingdom park?

No. Despite being right next door, there is no walking path. You must take the bus or a car.

Is there a resort fee?

No, Disney does not charge resort fees. Wifi and self-parking are complimentary.

Which building is better: Jambo House or Kidani Village?

Jambo House has the grand lobby and quick-service food. Kidani has the better pool slide and Sanaa, but is currently under construction (early 2026).

Are the rooms renovated?

Not yet. Jambo House rooms are currently 'tired' and scheduled for a full gut renovation starting May 2026.

Sisäpiirin vinkit

  • Request a 'partial savanna view' when booking a Standard Room—many Kudu Trail standard rooms have obstructed but visible animal views.

  • Use the 'secret' staircase near the lobby to get down to Jiko/Boma without waiting for the slow elevators.

  • Night vision goggles are available for free use at the Arusha Rock overlook in the evenings—ask a cast member.

5 asiaa, jotka sinun pitää tietää ennen matkaasi

  • 💡The rooms are dark. Like, really dark. Even with lights on, it feels like twilight.

  • 💡You can smell the animals from some balconies if the wind is right (it's a farm smell, not a zoo smell).

  • 💡The 'lobby level' is actually the 3rd floor, which confuses everyone trying to find their room.

  • 💡There is no quick-service food at Kidani Village (only Sanaa), so you have to shuttle to Jambo for a quick burger.

  • 💡The pool closes surprisingly early in winter (often 8pm), killing late-night swim plans.
