Miért szeretik az emberek

8.6781 értékelések
  • The 7-layer cascading pool system is genuinely spectacular and unique in Diani
  • Spice Route (Indian/Swahili fusion) and Zanzibar (seafood) restaurants serve excellent food
  • Superior rooms are huge (66sqm) with massive Swahili-style beds and sunken baths

Gyors áttekintés: A fading beauty that looks incredible from afar but reveals peeling paint, saline corrosion, and sluggish service when you look too close.

Értékelte @victoriakokkaI felt like royalty walking through those grand arches. The cascading pools are even more stunning in person, and my room had the perfect mix of modern comfort and Swahili charm. Definitely the most photogenic spot in Diani!

The hype

Guests are wowed by the architecture and pools but consistently disappointed by the aging maintenance and slow service.

Reality check

The '5-star' rating is a stretch by international standards; expect 3.5-star maintenance with 5-star bones.

  • You prioritize pool time over beach swimming
  • You love dramatic architecture and photo ops
  • You enjoy Indian and Swahili fusion cuisine

Tisztaság és karbantartás

7.5
  • Housekeeping: Hit or miss. Daily service, but often late in the day. Missed spots on floors reported.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Generally clean, but watch out for corroded taps, weak water pressure, and occasional grout mold.
  • Maintenance: The biggest issue. Peeling paint, saline damage on wood/metal, and 'tired' looking exteriors are common complaints.
  • Linens & towels: Decent quality, but towels can be a bit worn/scratchy from age.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells of lemongrass (lovely), but some rooms can smell musty due to humidity.

Foglalás előtt

Jó tudni

  • The hotel is cashless; you charge everything to the room.
  • Check-in can be painfully slow and the app often glitches.
  • Bottled water is free (glass bottles), but ice and machine coffee at breakfast might cost extra.

Mit csomagoljak be

  • Reef shoes (the beach is rocky and full of urchins at low tide)
  • Strong bug spray (mosquitoes are fierce in the evenings)
  • US Dollars or Kenyan Shillings for tips (staff prefer cash)

Szobagenie

Legjobb szobák

  • Superior Rooms (Upper Floor) – Better views of the pool/ocean and more privacy than ground floor.
  • Rooms in the 'North Wing' tend to be quieter than those facing the main bar.

Kerülendő szobák

  • Ground floor rooms (less privacy, people walking by)
  • Room 2A (specific complaint about no hot water)
  • Rooms directly facing the main bar if you sleep before 11pm

Szobakérés Genie – másolás és beillesztés

I would appreciate a Superior Room on an upper floor, specifically in a block away from the main bar and evening entertainment for a quieter stay. A pool view would be ideal.

GYIK és rejtett tippek

Minden, amit tényleg tudni szeretnél a foglalás előtt.

Is the beach swimmable?

Only at high tide. At low tide, it's a rocky moonscape. You'll need to walk 10 minutes north or south for a sandy swimming spot.

Is it all-inclusive?

No, standard rates are usually Half Board (breakfast & dinner). Drinks and lunch are extra and can be pricey.

How is the wifi?

Mediocre (scored 6.9/10). Fine for emails, but don't count on it for 4K streaming or Zoom calls.

Are there hidden fees?

Yes. Expect charges for things like ice buckets, espresso machine coffee at breakfast (instant is free), and sometimes even condiments.

Is it safe?

Generally yes, but there have been isolated complaints about gate security. Use the safe in your room and lock your balcony door.

What is the 'seaweed season'?

April to June and October to November. The beach gets dumped with seaweed, which can smell and make swimming unpleasant.

Insider tippek

  • Skip the buffet dinner ('Majilis') and book a table at 'Spice Route' or 'Zanzibar' – the food is leagues better.

  • The 'Dawa' cocktail at the bar is legendary; try it.

  • You can take a tuk-tuk to 'Ali Barbour's Cave Restaurant' for free (they offer pickup) – it's a 7-minute ride.

5 dolog, amit tudnod kell az utazás előtt

  • 💡The 'cascading pool' is amazing, but the bottom pool often has mildew or isn't as clean as the top ones.

  • 💡Monkeys are aggressive thieves – do not leave food on your balcony for even a second.

  • 💡The 'gym' is dated and an afterthought.

  • 💡You might have to pay for 'premium' coffee at breakfast while 'standard' coffee is free.

  • 💡The 'beach boys' will try to sell you everything from keychains to camel rides the moment you cross the property line.
