Service is a gamble—you'll either get a waiter who treats you like royalty or one who ignores you for 20 minutes.
- You have kids aged 8-14 who will disappear into the water park for hours
- You want to party at an adults-only resort (Breathless) but have to bring the kids
- You hate planning dinner reservations 3 days in advance

- Housekeeping: Generally reliable daily service, though they often miss dusting high shelves or under beds.
- Bathroom hygiene: Hit or miss. Newer rooms are fine; older ground-floor rooms often have grout mold and a persistent sewage/damp smell.
- Maintenance: Showing age. Reports of peeling paint, rusting fixtures in bathrooms, and leaking AC units are common.
- Linens & towels: Towels can be scratchy and sometimes scarce at the pool late in the day. Bed linens are standard hotel grade, nothing plush.
- Odors & scents: The 'musty' smell is the #1 complaint for ground floor rooms. Upper floors smell much fresher.

Is the Preferred Club worth it?
Yes. At this specific resort, the separation is felt. You get a better pool, a dedicated lounge, and significantly better bar service.
Can I use the facilities at Breathless?
Yes! Adults (18+) have full access to Breathless Punta Cana next door, including pools, bars, and restaurants. Breathless guests do NOT have full access to Onyx.
Is the beach swimmable?
Yes, but use caution. Uvero Alto has rougher surf and stronger undertow than Bavaro. It's great for jumping waves, less so for floating.
Do I need dinner reservations?
No. All à la carte restaurants are first-come, first-served. Go early (6 PM) or late (8:30 PM) to avoid waits.
Is there a heated pool?
No. The pools can be chilly in the early morning or during winter months (Dec-Feb), though the Caribbean sun usually warms them up by noon.
Are there hidden fees?
Not really 'hidden', but expect to pay for spa treatments, wine upgrades, and private romantic dinners. The environmental tax is standard.
