  • Stunning location right at the entrance of Bukchon Hanok Village
  • Beautiful private garden that offers a rare quiet oasis in Seoul
  • The 'best of both worlds' mix: traditional aesthetics with Western-style beds

Hızlı Özet: A visually poetic heritage stay that forces you to confront the unglamorous reality of 1950s plumbing and steep stairs.

@Kelsey.e.twyman tarafından değerlendirildi: I felt my stress vanish the moment I stepped through that gate. Staying in a Hanok was on my bucket list, and this place delivered pure magic. My favorite part was watching the sunrise from bed with the resident cat keeping me company. A true hidden gem in Seoul.

The hype

Travelers adore the garden sanctuary and the prime Bukchon location, but the 'bin your paper' rule is a major culture shock for many Western guests.

Reality check

The 'Boutique' label writes checks the facilities can't always cash—expect erratic hot water, some mold in bathrooms, and flashing fire alarm lights right above the bed.

  • You want to walk to Gyeongbokgung Palace in under 10 minutes
  • You appreciate historical architecture over cookie-cutter luxury
  • You need a quiet garden to decompress after exploring Seoul

Temizlik & Bakım

8
  • Housekeeping: Daily service is generally good, but missed spots (dust on frames, under beds) are common complaints.
  • Bathroom hygiene: The biggest weak point. Reports of mold in grout and the 'bin for toilet paper' creates inevitable odor/hygiene concerns.
  • Maintenance: Aging infrastructure shows: peeling paint, broken chairs, and finicky shower heads are frequently noted.
  • Linens & towels: Generally fresh and clean, though some guests have reported stained sheets.
  • Odors & scents: Can be musty in older rooms; bathroom bins can create unpleasant smells if not emptied immediately.

  • Flashing fire alarm lights positioned directly above beds
  • Internal machine/utility noise in some rooms
  • Thin walls in the Hanok sections

I would love to request a 2nd-floor room in the modern building with a direct view of the garden. Please avoid Room 1954 or any rooms facing the street wall.

SSS & Gizli İpuçları

Rezervasyon yapmadan önce bilmeniz gereken her şey.

Is there really no breakfast?

Correct. Breakfast service was suspended during COVID and has not returned. There is a cafe for coffee, but for food, you'll need to walk to nearby spots like 'Hwangsaengga Kalguksu'.

Can I flush toilet paper?

No. The 1957 plumbing cannot handle it. You must put used paper in the provided waste basket. This is non-negotiable and strictly enforced.

Is it a real Hanok?

It's a hybrid. There is a traditional Hanok building (suites) and a 1950s Western-style boutique building. Most standard rooms are in the Western building but overlook the Hanok garden.

Is there parking?

No on-site parking. You must park at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) or Jeongdok Library, both of which are paid public lots.

How far is the subway?

Anguk Station (Line 3) is about a 10-minute walk, but the final stretch is uphill.

Is it suitable for elderly guests?

Likely not. The lack of an elevator and the steep approach make it physically challenging.

İçeri Sakıları

  • The 'Hanok Prestige' suite is authentic but drafty in winter; the modern building is better insulated.

  • Ask for a room *away* from the utility room to avoid the 'machine noise' hum reported by guests.

  • The garden is open to guests 24/7—perfect for a late-night drink if you bring your own wine.

Gitmeden önce bilmeniz gereken 5 şey

  • 💡The flashing fire alarm light above the bed is a strobe-light nightmare for light sleepers.

  • 💡The 'terrace' in some rooms is just a small standing space facing a brick wall.

  • 💡You might find mosquitoes in your room even in shoulder seasons due to the garden proximity.

  • 💡The hot water can be erratic—fluctuating between scalding and freezing.

  • 💡The 'Boutique' building is actually a renovated 1950s house, so soundproofing between floors is virtually non-existent.
