Waarom mensen ervan houden

9.557 beoordelingen
  • Iconic hanging net beds overlooking rice terraces
  • Complete immersion in nature with zero city noise
  • Private flower baths and jacuzzis in every bamboo house

Snel Overzicht: It is exactly as beautiful as the photos, but you must accept that 'open-air' means bugs, humidity, and roosters are your roommates.

Beoordeeld door @travelcroats: I stayed in this bamboo house and it was a dream. Waking up to the jungle mist and having coffee on the net bed was the highlight of my trip. It is the perfect romantic escape.

The hype

Reviewers are universally stunned by the views and design, calling it a 'dream' and 'once-in-a-lifetime' experience.

Reality check

Many mention that the 'second bedrooms' in some houses are tiny/cramped and that damp bedding due to humidity is a common struggle.

  • You are an influencer or photographer chasing the perfect shot
  • You are a couple seeking absolute privacy and romance
  • You thrive in rustic, glamping-style environments

Schoonmaak & Onderhoud

8.5
  • Housekeeping: Daily cleaning is thorough, but fighting nature is a losing battle. Staff will sweep away bugs, but they return.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Clean but rustic. Open-air means you might find a frog on the toilet or leaves in the shower.
  • Maintenance: Generally good, though bamboo ages quickly. Watch for slippery moss on stone paths and occasional leaks during heavy rain.
  • Linens & towels: Freshly laundered but often feel damp/heavy due to the 100% humidity environment.
  • Odors & scents: Smells of fresh rain, wet earth, and burning wood. Occasionally musty if it has been raining for days.

  • Roosters crowing at 4 AM
  • River and waterfall sounds (soothing to some, loud to others)
  • Geckos and insect chirping all night

Voordat je boekt

Goed om te weten

  • Drone usage is strictly regulated (often 8am-9am only) to protect guest privacy.
  • You must pre-order meals via WhatsApp as the kitchen is small and remote.
  • Transport from the airport takes ~2 hours and costs around 600k-800k IDR.

Wat je mee moet nemen

  • Earplugs for the roosters
  • Strong bug spray (DEET recommended)
  • A light sweater (Selat gets chilly at night)
  • Power bank (outlets can be sparse or inconveniently placed)

Kamer Genie

Beste keuzes

  • Suboya House (The Original) for the classic net-bed view and a small kitchen.
  • Butterfly House for the upstairs movie projector setup and best layout for two couples.

Kamers om te vermijden

  • Nirvana House if you want the full 'bamboo palace' experience (it's smaller and simpler).
  • The second bedroom in Butterfly House if you are claustrophobic (reviews say it's tiny).

I am celebrating a special occasion and would love to book the Suboya or Butterfly house for the best rice terrace views. We are aware of the open-air concept and are excited for the nature experience.

Veelgestelde vragen & Verborgen tips

Alles wat je eigenlijk wilt weten voordat je boekt.

Is there air conditioning?

No. The houses are open-air and rely on natural ventilation and fans. It gets cooler at night in Selat than in Seminyak.

Are there bugs in the room?

Yes. You are sleeping in the jungle with no walls. Expect ants, moths, geckos, and spiders. Mosquito nets are provided for beds.

Is the food good?

It's decent home-style Indonesian and Western food. Not gourmet, but tasty and reasonably priced (Nasi Goreng ~45k IDR).

Can I walk to other restaurants?

No. You are deep in the rice terraces. The nearest alternative dining is a drive away.

Is there a pool?

Each bamboo house has its own private plunge pool or jacuzzi. There is no large communal pool.

Is it private?

Mostly yes, but farmers do work in the rice fields in front of the houses during the day.

Tips van Insiders

  • Order the 'Floating Breakfast' in advance—it's an extra charge (~200k IDR) but essential for the photo op.

  • Ask staff to light the bonfire for you at sunset; it's free and magical.

  • The floor can be incredibly slippery when wet; walk with caution after rain.

5 dingen die je moet weten voordat je gaat

  • 💡The 'shower' is often just a bamboo pipe under the open sky—liberating but primitive.

  • 💡You might wake up to a stray dog or cat wandering onto your terrace (they are friendly).

  • 💡Humidity makes everything feel slightly damp, including your sheets and clothes.

  • 💡The stairs to get to the houses are a legitimate workout and can be treacherous in rain.

  • 💡You can hear your neighbors if they are loud; the jungle carries sound.
