  • The 'best of both worlds' setup: sleep in an igloo one night, a premium warm suite the next
  • Floor-to-ceiling windows in the Lodge that make Northern Lights viewing possible from bed
  • Maku Restaurant's ambitious Arctic fine dining (reindeer, cloudberries, king crab)

クイックテイク: It is an expensive logistical commitment 20km from town, but the silence and the architecture actually deliver on the 'Arctic magic' promise.

@darkbeautyl によるレビューI checked into this suite and was blown away by how cozy it felt. The floor-to-ceiling windows framing the snowy river were my favorite part—I spent hours just watching the view with a glass of wine. It’s the perfect spot to hunt for auroras without freezing outside.

The hype

Travelers are universally blown away by the design and the staff's warmth, often citing the breakfast as a highlight.

Reality check

The food and transfer prices shock even seasoned travelers—you are a captive audience here.

  • You are chasing the Northern Lights but hate standing in the cold
  • You appreciate Scandinavian minimalism (wood, glass, slate)
  • You want a romantic, secluded escape far from city lights

清潔さと保守管理

9.8
  • Housekeeping: Impeccable. Reviews consistently mention 'sparkling' conditions.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Spotless. Heated floors in the Lodge bathrooms are a major plus.
  • Maintenance: New property feel; everything works. Ice hotel is literally rebuilt every year.
  • Linens & towels: Premium, crisp, and plentiful.
  • Odors & scents: Fresh wood and crisp cold air. No mustiness.

  • Occasional snowmobile engine in the distance during the day

予約前に

知っておくと良いこと

  • Book your dinner reservations at Maku when you book your room; it fills up.
  • The Igloo Hotel melts and is rebuilt every year; it's open approx. Dec 20 – April 7.
  • Summer visits offer the Midnight Sun and riverboats, a totally different but equally valid experience.

持ち物

  • Wool base layers (essential for the Igloo night and outdoor activities)
  • Indoor slippers (Norwegian custom, plus nice for the Lodge)
  • A high-quality camera tripod (essential for Aurora photography)

ルームジニー

おすすめ

  • River Suite (Upstairs): Worth the upgrade for the skylight window above the bed and the bathtub.
  • River Room (Ground Floor): Excellent views, but slightly less private if guests are walking along the riverbank.

避けるべきお部屋

  • Igloo Hotel rooms near the entrance/lobby if you are a light sleeper (late-night tours/check-ins).
  • Ground floor River Rooms closest to the main lodge building if you want total seclusion.

ルームリクエストジニー – コピー&ペースト

I would love a River Suite on the upper floor for maximum privacy and the best angle for the Northern Lights. If that is not possible, a River Room as far from the main lodge/restaurant traffic as possible would be appreciated.

インサイダー情報

  • The 'River Suites' have a glass skylight specifically for watching the Aurora from bed—River Rooms do not.

  • You can visit the Igloo Hotel as a day guest (noon-8pm) without staying overnight; this is often the smarter play.

  • Lunch at Lavvu is significantly cheaper than dinner at Maku but still uses local ingredients.

行く前に知っておくべき5つのこと

  • 💡The Igloo Hotel is basically a public museum until 8pm; you can't just lounge in your ice room all afternoon.

  • 💡The 'warm' bathroom for Igloo guests is in a separate building—a cold dash in the middle of the night.

  • 💡Alcohol prices are steep even for Norway; a glass of wine can easily hit $15-20.

  • 💡The ground floor rooms have a patio, but in deep winter, the snow pile might block your view slightly.

  • 💡You are 20km from the nearest convenience store—bring your own snacks if you don't want to pay hotel prices.
