Direct access to the 5.3-mile Stowe Recreation Path
Indoor AND outdoor pools (rare for this price point)
Walking distance to The Alchemist Brewery and local dining
Quick Take: A glorified motel with resort aspirations that nails the location but skimps on soundproofing and housekeeping.
Reviewed by @adventures_of_loryl_june: I stayed in Room 42 and it was the perfect winter basecamp. The room is compact but super cozy with the fireplace, and I spent every evening thawing out in the hot tub and sauna. Ideally located for exploring Stowe!

The hype
Families love the pools and location, but couples looking for romance hate the noise and dated decor.
Reality check
The 'Mountain View' building is quieter than the Main Inn, but don't expect total silence anywhere.
You are a family who needs a pool to tire out the kids
You plan to spend all day biking or hiking the Rec Path
You want Stowe location without the $500/night price tag
Cleanliness & Maintenance
8
Housekeeping: On-request only. Do not expect daily bed-making or trash removal unless you ask.
Bathroom hygiene: Generally clean but grout and fixtures can show age/wear.
Maintenance: Decent, though reports of peeling paint or slow drains pop up occasionally.
Linens & towels: Standard hotel quality, sometimes reported as 'thin' or 'worn'.
Odors & scents: Usually neutral, though some rooms have a faint 'old building' or musty smell.

There is no elevator in the two-story buildings—pack light or request ground floor if stairs are an issue.
What to pack
White noise machine or earplugs (essential)
Bathing suit (even in winter for the indoor pool/hot tub)
Slippers (carpets can feel a bit worn)
Room Genie
Best picks

Top floor rooms (to avoid the 'herd of elephants' noise from above)
Corner King rooms (more windows, fewer shared walls)
Rooms to avoid
Main Inn ground floor rooms (noise from lobby/pool/upstairs)
