Roomer

Sonder Cirrus

$70-150/ night

Book this if You want a Disney-adjacent crash pad that looks cooler than a Motel 6 but costs about the same.

Why People Love It

  • Surprisingly stylish 'Instagrammable' renovation of an old motel
  • 10-minute drive to Animal Kingdom without the Disney price tag
  • Contactless check-in appeals to introverts and late arrivals

Quick Take: It’s a budget motel wearing a trendy disguise—don't let the fresh paint fool you into expecting The Ritz.

Reviewed by @cath_nadI needed a break from the Orlando crowds, and this place was exactly that. Waking up to the sound of rain and spotting cute wildlife on my walk to the pool was so grounding. It’s simple, affordable, and honestly just good for the soul.

Guest Who Stayed Here Said

The hype

Guests love the modern aesthetic and low price but hate the noise and lack of on-site staff support.

Reality check

The 'resort fee' (approx. $20) and paid parking ($10/night) catch many budget travelers by surprise, turning a $70 steal into a $100+ stay.

  • You are a solo traveler or couple who just needs a stylish place to sleep
  • You prefer using an app over talking to a front desk agent
  • You have a car and plan to spend 12+ hours a day at the parks

Cleanliness & Maintenance

6
  • Housekeeping: Inconsistent. No daily service. Guests frequently report missed dust bunnies and rushed turnovers.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Hit or miss. Renovated fixtures look good, but grout lines and corners often show age and grime.
  • Maintenance: lipstick-on-a-pig issues: peeling paint, loose handles, and 'weird' smells from old AC units are common.
  • Linens & towels: Generally clean but can be worn. Reports of hair on sheets are concerningly frequent.
  • Odors & scents: Some rooms have a lingering musty smell masked by cleaning chemicals.

Sleepability™

  • Thin walls between connecting rooms

Before you book

Good to know

  • Download the Sonder app immediately—you literally cannot get in without it
  • There is no daily housekeeping unless you request and pay for it
  • The 'Kitchen' listed in many standard rooms is just a mini-fridge and microwave, not a full cooking setup

What to pack

  • White noise machine or heavy-duty earplugs
  • Slippers (floors are hard surface and can feel gritty)
  • Your own pool towel (room towels are small and sometimes scarce)

Room Genie

Best picks

  • Top floor rooms to avoid hearing footsteps from above
  • Pool-facing rooms (away from the highway) for slightly less traffic noise

Rooms to avoid

  • Ground floor rooms facing the parking lot (headlights and foot traffic)
  • Rooms nearest to the highway (constant drone of cars)

I would appreciate a room on the top floor, facing the pool or internal courtyard, away from the highway noise. Please ensure the room has been recently inspected for cleanliness.

FAQ & Hidden tips

Everything you actually want to know before you book.

Is there a resort fee?

Yes, expect a resort fee of approximately $20/night, even though amenities are limited to a pool and basic gym.

Is parking free?

No. On-site parking costs $10/night. Some guests park at their own risk in adjacent lots, but we don't recommend it.

Can I store my bags before check-in?

No. There is no staffed front desk for storage. You will need to use a paid service or keep bags in your car.

Is the pool heated?

The pool is outdoors and 'inviting' but not reliably heated to bath-warmth levels in winter. Expect a chilly dip in January.

How far is it to Disney?

Very close. About 10-15 minutes to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios by car.

Is the area safe at night?

It's a busy tourist strip (US-192). It's generally safe due to traffic, but it's not a pedestrian-friendly 'strolling' neighborhood late at night.

Insider Tips

  • The 'Superior' rooms are basically the same size as standard ones; don't overpay for the label unless it guarantees a better view.

  • There is a Walmart Supercenter just 5 minutes west—stock up on water and snacks there to avoid tourist trap prices.

  • If the app check-in fails (it happens), the support line is 24/7 but can have long hold times. Have your booking ID screenshot ready.

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The 'renovation' is largely cosmetic; the plumbing and AC units are often still the noisy, vintage originals.

  • 💡The bathroom doors in some units are barn-style sliders that don't fully seal—awkward for friends traveling together.

  • 💡You might find 'leftover' items from previous guests in the drawers due to rushed housekeeping.

  • 💡The blackout curtains are decent, but the gap at the bottom of the door lets in light and noise from the walkway.

  • 💡Wi-Fi speed is actually surprisingly good, making it a decent spot for digital nomads on a budget.
