Tropicana Atlantic City

Book this if You want the full Atlantic City casino experience with a massive indoor dining/shopping complex (The Quarter) so you never have to step outside.

Why People Love It

7.011981 reviews
  • The Quarter: A Havana-themed indoor streetscape with 20+ restaurants and bars
  • Brand new Solana Tower rooms (opened Feb 2026) are actually modern and clean
  • Tony's Baltimore Grill (legendary late-night pizza) is just a block away

Quick Take: A massive, sprawling beast of a resort where your experience depends entirely on which tower you book—choose wrong and you're in a 1980s time capsule.

Reviewed by @JensparksI love staying in the Havana Tower because the suites are massive. The corner views of the ocean and city from my room were incredible. It's a bit of a walk to the casino, but the extra space and quiet are totally worth it for the price.

The hype

The new Solana and Havana towers are great, but the Chelsea tower is a 'nursing home' nightmare.

Reality check

You will walk miles. The property is enormous, and getting from the parking garage to the Chelsea or Havana towers can take 15-20 minutes.

  • You love having 20+ dining options without putting on a coat
  • You are part of a bachelor/bachelorette party looking for nightlife
  • You book the new Solana Tower or the Havana Tower

Cleanliness & Maintenance

7
  • Housekeeping: Hit or miss. 'On request' policy means trash often piles up if you don't call.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Solana/Havana are sparkling. Chelsea/North have reports of peeling grout, cold water, and 'sewage' smells.
  • Maintenance: Solana is brand new. Chelsea is falling apart (peeling wallpaper, broken AC knobs).
  • Linens & towels: Standard casino quality. Stiff but generally clean in the main towers.
  • Odors & scents: Solana smells like 'new car'. Chelsea smells musty. Casino floor is heavy on the 'masking fragrance' to cover smoke.

Sleepability™

  • HVAC rattle in unrenovated rooms

Before you book

Good to know

  • The 'West Tower' is now the 'Solana Tower'—book this for the newest rooms.
  • Self-parking is $20/night; Valet is $35/night.
  • The pool in the Chelsea Tower is adults-only (21+), while the others are family-friendly.

What to pack

  • Comfortable walking shoes (the walk from room to casino can be 10+ mins)
  • Earplugs (essential for North/South tower stays)
  • A sweater for The Quarter (AC is cranked high even in winter)

Room Genie

Best picks

  • Solana Tower (formerly West): Newly renovated (2026), hard flooring, modern coastal vibe, no musty carpet smell.
  • Havana Tower: Closest to The Quarter dining/shopping, generally cleaner and newer than North/South.

Rooms to avoid

  • Chelsea Tower: The 'Low Roller' penalty box. Far away, smelly, and dated.
  • North/South Tower Standard Rooms: tired decor, worn carpets, and often noisy.

Room Request Genie – copy & paste

I would like to request a room in the newly renovated Solana Tower (formerly West Tower). If unavailable, a high-floor room in the Havana Tower is preferred. Please avoid the Chelsea Tower due to distance.

FAQ & Hidden tips

Everything you actually want to know before you book.

Is the pool open year-round?

Yes, there is an indoor pool in the South Tower open year-round. The outdoor pools are seasonal.

Does the hotel allow pets?

No. Tropicana has a strict no-pet policy, unlike some other Caesars properties. Service animals only.

Is there a resort fee?

Yes, approximately $31.80 per night (tax inclusive). It covers WiFi, local calls, and a $5 parking credit.

Which tower is the best?

As of 2026, the Solana Tower (newly renovated) is the best for room quality. Havana Tower is best for access to dining/shopping.

Is there a fridge in the room?

Most rooms have a small mini-fridge, but it's often full of sensors or too small for large items. Don't count on it for serious food storage.

How far is the boardwalk?

The resort sits directly on the boardwalk. You can walk right out from the casino floor.

Insider Tips

  • The 'Solana Tower' is the old West Tower, but gutted and redone in 2026. It's the best value on the property right now.

  • Use the 'Havana Self Park' garage if you are staying in the Havana Tower—it's separate from the main garage and saves you a 15-minute walk.

  • Tony's Baltimore Grill (one block away) serves better pizza at 2 AM than anything inside the casino.

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The 'Chelsea Tower' is actually a failed former hotel (The Chelsea) that was bought and attached via a skybridge; it feels completely disconnected.

  • 💡The elevators in the North Tower are notoriously slow and often smell like weed on weekends.

  • 💡You can get a $5 credit towards parking if you pay the resort fee, but you have to ask/scan for it.

  • 💡The 'Quarter' isn't just shops; it has a hidden 'IMAX Theatre' that plays Hollywood blockbusters.

  • 💡Housekeeping is 'on request' for many rate tiers—you might not get daily service unless you ask.
