Varför människor älskar det

8.4521 recensioner
  • Location is unbeatable—steps from the Wednesday market party and Avenue Louise shopping
  • Rooms are massive by European standards, often starting at 30+ square meters
  • The Florentine garden courtyard is a rare, quiet oasis in the city center

Snabb Överblick: It calls itself a 5-star luxury hotel, but the peeling wallpaper and worn carpets say it's a very comfortable 4-star that stopped renovating in 2010.

Recenserat av @passportbabeeI spent a weekend at Le Chatelain and it was the perfect base for exploring Brussels. The location near Avenue Louise is dangerous for your wallet (so much shopping!), and the room felt super cozy after a night out at the Atomium. Definitely order the room service!

The hype

Travelers love the massive rooms and the Châtelain neighborhood vibe, but consistently note the decor feels stuck in the 90s.

Reality check

You might smell faint cigarette smoke or 'old house' mustiness in the hallways, and the AC struggles to cool rooms down during summer heatwaves.

  • You need a room big enough to actually do yoga in
  • You want to live like a wealthy local in the Châtelain district
  • You prioritize a dead-silent night's sleep over modern design

Renlighet & Underhåll

7
  • Housekeeping: Daily service is reliable, but they sometimes miss dust on high surfaces or under beds.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Generally clean, but grout can be discolored and some guests report faint sewage smells from drains.
  • Maintenance: The biggest weak point. Peeling wallpaper, scuffed furniture, and loose outlets are common complaints.
  • Linens & towels: Towels are thick and clean, but bed linens can feel a bit starched and worn.
  • Odors & scents: Common reports of musty, 'old carpet' smells in hallways and some rooms.

  • Internal hallway noise (doors slamming)
  • Humming from older AC units in summer

Innan du bokar

Bra att veta

  • The Wednesday market at Place du Châtelain (2pm-7pm) is a local ritual—go for oysters and wine.
  • City tax is roughly €4.24 per room/night, payable at checkout.
  • The 'Executive' rooms often include free breakfast—check your rate details carefully.

Vad du ska packa

  • European power adapter (plugs are Type E)
  • Light layers—the AC can be finicky and rooms run warm

Rum Genie

Bästa val

  • Junior Suites for massive space (approx. 45m²)
  • Garden-facing rooms for absolute silence and a pretty view

Rum att undvika

  • Rooms near the elevators (internal noise bleed)
  • Lower floor street-facing rooms if you're a light sleeper (though traffic is low)

I would appreciate a renovated room facing the inner garden courtyard. I am a light sleeper and would love to avoid being near the elevators.

How much is breakfast?

The American buffet breakfast costs €28 per person if not included in your rate.

Yes, private underground valet parking is available for €45 per night.

Can I bring my dog?

No. The hotel has a strict no-pets policy, with exceptions only for certified service animals.

How far is the Grand Place?

Insider-tips

  • Skip the €28 hotel breakfast and walk 3 minutes to 'Le Pain Quotidien' or 'Crème' for a better, cheaper brunch.

  • The 'Bailli' tram stop is just around the corner and gets you directly to the city center or the Louise shopping district in minutes.

  • Ask for a room on the 6th floor or higher for better natural light; lower floors can feel a bit gloomy.

5 saker du bör veta innan du åker

  • 💡The 'King' beds are often just two twin mattresses pushed together with a gap in the middle.

  • 💡The carpets in the hallways have seen better decades—expect some stains and wear.

  • 💡The concierge can book you a table at 'La Maison du Châtelain', but the locals actually eat at the brasseries on Rue du Page.

  • 💡The in-room TVs are often older models with limited smart connectivity.

  • 💡You might get hit with a €250 deposit hold on your card upon check-in, which can take days to release.
