$280-550/ night

Book this if You want the 'White Lotus' experience without the murder—a self-contained mega-resort where you never have to leave the property.

Why People Love It

8.9674 reviews
  • The Rock Bar is a bucket-list sunset spot (that you get priority access to)
  • 14 swimming pools means you can swim in a different one every day for two weeks
  • Kubu Beach offers a private, elevator-accessible cove that feels miles away from Bali's chaos

Quick Take: It’s a beautifully manicured golden cage; you'll feel like royalty, but you'll pay a premium for every bottle of water and need a buggy to get anywhere.

Reviewed by @TravelholicdayI was blown away by the scale of this place. From the massive cliffside pools to the quiet moments on my private terrace, it’s the perfect mix of drama and peace. The ocean views are honestly some of the best I've ever seen in Bali.

Guest Who Stayed Here Said

The hype

The grounds and pools are world-class, but the sheer size of the estate can make getting a coffee feel like a commute.

Reality check

Rooms in the non-renovated wings feel tired and dark compared to the shiny new lobby and Rimba property.

  • You love resort hopping without leaving the complex (shuttles connect 4 hotels)
  • You want a guaranteed perfect sunset photo without fighting Kuta crowds
  • You are traveling with a multi-generational family and need activities for everyone

Cleanliness & Maintenance

8
  • Housekeeping: Daily service is thorough, but they fight a losing battle against tropical humidity in older rooms.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Generally sparkling marble, but watch for faint mildew smells in the grout of non-renovated units.
  • Maintenance: West Building is pristine; East Building is currently a construction zone. Older rooms show scuffs on dark wood furniture.
  • Linens & towels: High quality, crisp and plentiful. Pool towels are readily available.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells of fresh frangipani; some older corridors have a lingering 'damp carpet' scent.

  • Connecting room doors (hear neighbors talking)
  • Construction noise in East Building (Q1 2025)
  • Buggy/shuttle beeping on main paths

Before you book

Good to know

  • The 'Ayana Estate' includes Ayana Resort, Rimba, Segara, and Villas—you can use facilities at all of them.
  • Rock Bar sunset reservations are essential even for guests; book via the app as soon as you check in.
  • Grab/Gojek drivers are technically allowed for drop-offs but pick-ups can be tricky; the hotel pushes their expensive transport.

What to pack

  • Smart casual outfit for Rock Bar (no singlets or alcohol-branded shirts allowed)
  • Water shoes if you plan to wade at Kubu Beach (sharp coral)
  • Universal waterproof phone pouch (pools are everywhere)

Room Genie

Best picks

  • Renovated 'Resort View' rooms in the West Building (completed late 2024) for fresh interiors
  • Rimba 'Wana' rooms for a more modern, forest-vibe alternative if the main resort feels dated

Rooms to avoid

  • East Building / Uluwatu Wing rooms until April 2025 (renovation noise)
  • Ground floor rooms near the main pool (privacy issues and noise)
  • Connecting rooms if you are not booking both sides

Room Request Genie – copy & paste

I am staying during the renovation period. Please ensure I am assigned a room in the West Building (Jimbaran Wing) or a fully renovated unit away from construction noise. I strictly request a non-connecting room.

FAQ & Hidden tips

Everything you actually want to know before you book.

Is breakfast included?

Usually no, unless specified. The buffet costs approx IDR 440,000++ ($30 USD) per person and is massive but chaotic.

Can I use the facilities at Rimba if I stay at Ayana?

Yes, you have full access to all pools and restaurants across Ayana, Rimba, and Segara. Use the free tram to hop between them.

Is the Rock Bar worth the hype?

Yes, for one sunset drink. The view is unbeatable, but the drinks are pricey ($15+) and it gets hot. Go for the experience, then eat dinner elsewhere.

How far is the airport?

About 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. It's close, which is great for arrival/departure but means you occasionally hear planes.

Are the monkeys dangerous?

They are bold. They will steal food off your balcony table in seconds. Keep doors locked and don't feed them.

Is there a resort fee?

No explicit 'resort fee', but a 21% tax and service charge is added to everything. Prices on menus are '++'.

Insider Tips

  • The 'River Pool' at the Villas is the most photogenic and quietest pool—get there by 9am to snag a lounger.

  • Skip the hotel seafood BBQ and take a $3 Grab to 'Warung Nasi Ayam Bu Oki' for the best $2 spicy chicken rice of your life.

  • You can request a buggy to take you to Kubu Beach instead of waiting for the tram if you are in a hurry.

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The 'Ocean View' rooms often just see a sliver of blue over a lot of roof and garden.

  • 💡You will spend a significant part of your vacation on a shuttle bus moving between lobbies.

  • 💡The humidity in the older wings is real—clothes can feel damp even inside the closet.

  • 💡The 'Thalassotherapy' pool is paid access (approx $40) and not included in your room rate, but it's arguably better than a massage.

  • 💡Room service prices are eye-watering; a simple Nasi Goreng can cost 3x the local price.
