Perché piace così tanto

  • The world's largest hotel lobby (Guinness Record) is genuinely jaw-dropping
  • Unbeatable location across from the Ferry Building and BART
  • Balcony rooms with sweeping views of the Bay Bridge

In sintesi: It's a massive, echoing Brutalist cathedral where the elevators are iconic but painfully slow.

Recensito da @jillsfoodtravelsI stayed in a Bay View Balcony Suite and the view of the Ferry Building was absolutely unreal. Waking up to the water and having coffee on my private terrace made this work trip feel like a vacation. The massive atrium lobby is also a total showstopper.

The hype

Travelers are obsessed with the architecture and views but frustrated by the elevator wait times.

Reality check

The 'Destination Fee' is annoying, but the $20 daily food credit helps offset it if you actually use it.

  • You are a design nerd who loves 1970s futurism
  • You need to be steps from the Financial District or Ferry Building
  • You have Hyatt Globalist status (the rotating club is back!)

Pulizia e manutenzione

8.8
  • Housekeeping: Consistent and thorough. Daily service is standard.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Sparkling. Renovated bathrooms are modern with good grout lines.
  • Maintenance: Excellent. The recent $50M renovation refreshed the worn 70s edges.
  • Linens & towels: Crisp, white, and high-quality Hyatt standard.
  • Odors & scents: Neutral. No overwhelming perfumes or mustiness.

  • Street noise on lower floors facing Drumm St/Embarcadero

Prima di prenotare

Buono a sapersi

  • The legendary rotating restaurant is now the 'Regency Club' — only for Globalists or 'Revolve' package bookers
  • Destination fee is ~$40 but includes a $20 daily credit for Eclipse Kitchen
  • Valet is steep (~$80+), self-park is cheaper but traps your car

Cosa portare

  • Layers (SF weather changes hourly)
  • Good walking shoes (the hallways are long)
  • Earplugs (if you get an atrium room)

Genio delle camere

Migliori scelte

  • Bay View Balcony King (worth the splurge for the private outdoor space)
  • High-floor outward-facing rooms (quietest options)

Camere da evitare

  • Low-floor atrium-facing rooms (noise from lobby bar travels up)
  • Rooms far from the elevator bank (it's a long walk)

Genio delle richieste camera – copia e incolla

I would appreciate a high-floor room facing OUTWARD toward the Bay or City, away from the atrium noise. If available, a room near the elevators would be great to minimize walking.

FAQ e consigli nascosti

Tutto ciò che vuoi davvero sapere prima di prenotare.

Is there a pool?

No. There is absolutely no pool, despite the grand size of the hotel.

Does the top floor still rotate?

Yes! After years of being stationary, the Regency Club now rotates again, but access is restricted to elite members or specific packages.

How bad is the parking situation?

Typical SF. Valet is ~$80/night with in/out privileges. Self-parking at 3 Embarcadero Center is ~$35/night but has NO in/out privileges.

Is it noisy?

It can be. The atrium design amplifies sound. Ask for an outward-facing room if you need silence.

What is the Destination Fee?

Approx. $40/night. Includes premium Wi-Fi, a $20 food/beverage credit, and discounts at local spots like the Aquarium.

Is it good for families?

It's okay. The location is safe and fun, but the lack of a pool is a major dealbreaker for many kids.

Suggerimenti degli Insider

  • The 'Revolve' package is the only way to get into the rotating club without Globalist status.

  • Skip the hotel breakfast buffet ($39+) and walk across the street to the Ferry Building for Acme Bread or Blue Bottle.

  • The 'Destination Fee' $20 credit resets daily — use it for a nightcap or snacks at the Market, it doesn't roll over.

5 cose da sapere prima di partire

  • 💡The elevators are a sci-fi trip but can take 10+ minutes during checkout time.

  • 💡The lobby sculpture 'Eclipse' is so massive the hotel was literally built around it.

  • 💡There is a hidden 'Regency Club' access door that feels like a secret agent entrance.

  • 💡The hallways are incredibly long; being at the end of a corridor adds 5 minutes to your exit.

  • 💡The 'Balcony' rooms have actual sliding doors, a rarity in modern high-rise hotels.
