Why People Love It

9.1293 reviews
  • The 'Oasis' factor: incredibly quiet despite being 5 minutes from the chaos
  • Free valet parking (a unicorn amenity in pedestrian-only Mykonos)
  • Breakfast runs until noon, catering perfectly to the hangover crowd

Quick Take: A chic sanctuary that makes you work for your relaxation with a steep uphill walk home every night.

Reviewed by @tillystravellingtableI stayed at Semeli and it's easily my favorite spot in Mykonos. The champagne breakfast is a total game-changer, and watching the sunset from the pool deck with a glass of Veuve was the highlight of my trip. It’s the perfect mix of chill and chic.

Guest Who Stayed Here Said

The hype

Guests universally worship the staff and location but are divided on whether the 'Garden View' rooms are worth the price tag.

Reality check

The 'private' hot tubs are often visible from upper balconies or public walkways, so don't expect total seclusion.

  • You want to be close to Little Venice but sleep in silence
  • You are renting a car (free valet is huge)
  • You appreciate a high-end breakfast that doesn't end at 10am

Cleanliness & Maintenance

9.2
  • Housekeeping: Daily and thorough. Turndown service includes fresh towels and chocolate.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Sparkling. Philippe Starck designs mean less grout to scrub, but watch for water splashing out of open showers.
  • Maintenance: Excellent. Whitewash is fresh (repainted often). Hot tubs are the only weak point for debris.
  • Linens & towels: High thread count, crisp white, replaced aggressively.
  • Odors & scents: Signature 'Semeli' scent in lobby; rooms smell fresh, no mustiness.

Before you book

Good to know

  • Climate Crisis Resilience Fee is ~€10/night per room (March-Oct)
  • The hotel is a maze of stairs; request a room near reception if you hate climbing
  • Transfers from the port/airport are NOT free unless booked in a specific package

What to pack

  • Flat sandals or sneakers (the hill will destroy your stilettos)
  • European power adapters (some rooms have limited outlets)
  • Earplugs (just in case you get a room with a noisy hot tub neighbor)

Room Genie

Best picks

  • Executive Suite Pool View (spacious, best views, worth the splurge)
  • Superior Double Sea View (upper levels guarantee privacy and sunsets)

Rooms to avoid

  • Superior Double Garden View (often ground floor, darker, feels less 'luxury')
  • Rooms directly adjacent to the main pool bar if you nap during the day

Room Request Genie – copy & paste

I am requesting an upper-level room with a Sea View to ensure privacy. Please avoid ground-floor Garden units or rooms directly facing the main pool bar speakers.

FAQ & Hidden tips

Everything you actually want to know before you book.

Is the hill really that bad?

Yes. It's short but steep. If you're fit, it's a 5-minute cardio burst. If you're in heels or have bad knees, it's a dealbreaker.

Is there a nightclub on site?

No. There is a lobby lounge with a DJ, but it's not a thumping club. The hotel group owns clubs elsewhere, which causes confusion.

Do I need a car?

Not for town, but yes for beaches. The free valet makes having a car stress-free here.

Is the pool heated?

The smaller garden pool is heated; the main pool is fresh water and can be chilly in early/late season.

Can I walk to the beach?

Megali Ammos is a 10-minute walk, but it's not the best beach. You'll want to drive or bus to the south coast beaches.

Is it kid-friendly?

Technically yes, but the vibe is very adult/couple-focused. The stairs and open balconies are stressful for toddlers.

Insider Tips

  • The 'Garden Pool' is often quieter and warmer than the main pool.

  • You can order from the fine dining menu (Krama) to your room for a private balcony dinner.

  • Walk down the hill to town, but take a taxi back up if you've had a big night (€10-15 well spent).

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The 'private' jacuzzis often have debris (leaves/dust) due to the famous Mykonos wind.

  • 💡Glassware in rooms sometimes gets missed by housekeeping during turndown.

  • 💡The gym is in a basement and feels a bit like a dungeon compared to the rest of the hotel.

  • 💡You might hear the 'hum' of 20 different hot tub motors running at night.

  • 💡The 'Garden View' is sometimes just a view of a wall with some plants.
