Unbeatable location right on George Street opposite the QVB
The historic, subterranean Marble Bar is a genuine Victorian-era stunner
Luke Mangan's Glass Brasserie serves one of the best hotel breakfasts in Sydney
Quick Take: A polished corporate machine that delivers efficiency and status perks but lacks the soul of a boutique hotel.
Reviewed by @Cbadboybill: I stayed in this high-floor room at Hilton Sydney and the automated blinds were my favorite feature. Waking up to that massive city view without leaving bed felt so powerful. The room is dead quiet despite being right in the CBD. Perfect for a solo recharge.
Guest Who Stayed Here Said
The hype
Travelers love the central location and the renovated lobby, but many find the rooms a bit compact for the price.
Reality check
The 'Upon Request' housekeeping policy frustrates guests who expect daily service without asking.
You have Hilton Honors Diamond status (the lounge is excellent)
You need to be within walking distance of Town Hall and Pitt Street Mall
You appreciate a serious gym (Fitness First) over a tiny hotel fitness room
Cleanliness & Maintenance
8.5
Housekeeping: Hit or miss due to the 'opt-in' policy. If you request it, it's good. If you forget, your bin stays full.
Bathroom hygiene: Generally sparkling, but watch out for faint musty/drain smells in older bathrooms on lower floors.
Maintenance: Public areas are fresh from a 2025 reno. Rooms are solid (2021 refresh) but check for scuffs on baseboards.
Linens & towels: Crisp, white, and high quality. Towels are fluffy enough.
Odors & scents: Lobby smells like signature Hilton 'White Tea' scent; hallways are neutral.

Before you book
Good to know
Valet parking is eye-wateringly expensive (~$95 AUD); park at 'Secure Parking' 255 Pitt St for half the price if you book online.
The Executive Lounge (Level 36) gets very crowded during evening canapés (6-8pm) – arrive by 5:45pm for a seat.
There is no Chromecast on the TVs, so bring an HDMI cable if you want to stream your own content.
What to pack
AU power adapter (Type I) – international outlets are limited
Gym gear – the Fitness First access is a waste if you don't use the pro equipment
Earplugs if you end up on a lower floor facing the street
Room Genie
Best picks
Corner Rooms (ending in 11, 12, 24, 25) – significantly more space and dual-aspect views
Relaxation Rooms – feature a massive spa bath and separate shower
High floors (Level 25+) facing East for Hyde Park glimpses
Rooms to avoid
Room 3526 (directly under the Executive Lounge kitchen – noisy foot traffic)
Low floors (Level 6-15) facing George Street if you are a light sleeper
Rooms near the elevator bank (audible dings)
Room Request Genie – copy & paste
“I would appreciate a high-floor room (Level 25+) away from the elevators. If available, a Corner Room (ending in xx11 or xx25) would be ideal. Please ensure the room is not directly below the Executive Lounge.”
FAQ & Hidden tips
Everything you actually want to know before you book.
Does the hotel have a pool?
Sort of. You get access to the Fitness First indoor lap pool in the basement. It's 25m and heated, but it's a public gym pool, not a relaxing hotel oasis.
Is breakfast included for Diamond members?
Technically yes, but only the 'Continental' spread. You will likely be asked to pay ~$10-15 AUD to upgrade to the full hot buffet at Glass Brasserie.
How much is parking?
Valet is approx $95 AUD/night. Self-parking is not available on-site, but nearby off-site parking at 255 Pitt St is cheaper (~$55/night).
What is the 'Upon Request' housekeeping?
Housekeeping may not automatically clean your room every day unless you specifically ask the front desk. Request this at check-in to avoid a messy room.
Is there a credit card surcharge?
Yes, expect a surcharge of around 1.5% to 2% on all credit card transactions, including the room rate.
Can I check in early?
It's difficult. The hotel runs high occupancy. You can drop bags, but don't count on a room before 3pm unless you pay for the previous night.
Insider Tips
✨
The 'Marble Bar' in the basement has a separate street entrance – it's a heritage-listed Victorian masterpiece that feels miles away from the modern hotel above.
✨
Ask for a 'Relaxation Room' upgrade at check-in; they are often available for a reasonable fee and the bath is huge.
✨
The Executive Lounge staff can sometimes grant a late checkout of 1pm, which is harder to get from the front desk.
5 things to know before you go
💡The automatic blinds are surprisingly loud – don't adjust them if your partner is sleeping.
💡The 'City View' often just means looking at the office building across the street.
💡There is a secret shortcut to the QVB and Town Hall station via the basement level (near the gym entrance).
💡The bathroom sinks in standard rooms are quite shallow and splash easily.
💡You can hear the rumble of the trains/trams from the basement gym/pool area.
