Warum Gäste es lieben

8.3832 Bewertungen
  • The lobby is a colonial-style showstopper with three-story arch windows
  • Coco’s Seafood Buffet on Saturday nights is a local institution
  • Location is unbeatable—steps from the Reef Fleet Terminal and Casino

Kurzfassung: A tale of two hotels: the 'Rejuvenated' rooms are slick and modern, while the 'Classic' rooms are a pricey trip back to 1987.

Bewertet von @IvyI took my daughter here for a much-needed staycation and it was bliss. We loved the massive pool and our room had the most peaceful mountain view. It felt like a proper holiday even though we were just down the road. Highly recommend for a family reset.

Was Gäste, die hier übernachtet haben, sagten

The hype

Guests love the massive lobby and location, but are divided sharply by which room type they got.

Reality check

The 'Classic' rooms smell musty and feel tired, while the 'Rejuvenated' rooms get rave reviews.

  • You need a hotel within crawling distance of the Reef Fleet Terminal for early boat trips
  • You appreciate old-school, high-ceilinged hotel grandeur
  • You are a Accor member looking to burn points on a solid 5-star

Sauberkeit & Instandhaltung

8.5
  • Housekeeping: Daily and generally thorough, though 'Classic' rooms often have dust in corners.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Renovated bathrooms are spotless. Older bathrooms have grout issues and that faint 'damp hotel' smell.
  • Maintenance: The pool deck is showing its age (rust spots). Elevators can be glitchy.
  • Linens & towels: Crisp and white. No major complaints here.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells grand and floral. Older rooms can smell musty/humid.

  • Doors slamming in tiled hallways
  • Traffic from Abbott Street (especially on lower floors)
  • AC units in older rooms can be rattly

Vor der Buchung

Gut zu wissen

  • Self-parking is ~$20-25 AUD/day and the garage elevator situation is annoying.
  • Check-in is strictly 3pm; early check-in often incurs a $25-$50 fee.
  • The Saturday Night Seafood Buffet at Coco's books out—reserve weeks in advance.

Was Sie einpacken sollten

  • Earplugs (for the hallway noise)
  • Reef-safe sunscreen (you are next to the terminal, after all)
  • A light jacket (the AC in the lobby and rooms is set to 'arctic')

Zimmer-Genie

Beste Auswahl

  • Rejuvenated Deluxe Harbour View (Floors 12+ for best views)
  • Executive Suite (80sqm of space, worth the upgrade)

Zimmer, die Sie meiden sollten

  • Any room with 'Classic' in the name (unless you're on a tight budget)
  • Low floor City View rooms (street noise)

Zimmerwunsch-Genie – kopieren & einfügen

I am requesting a 'Rejuvenated' room on a high floor (12+). Please ensure it is NOT a connecting room to avoid noise bleed. Harbour view preferred.

FAQ & Geheimtipps

Alles, was Sie vor der Buchung wirklich wissen möchten.

Is the pool heated?

Yes, but it's outdoors and can feel chilly in the 'winter' months (July/August).

How far is the Reef Fleet Terminal?

It is a 5-minute walk across the park. You can practically roll out of bed onto a boat.

Does the hotel have a shuttle?

No free shuttle. A taxi/Uber to the airport takes ~15 mins and costs ~$25-35 AUD.

Are the 'Classic' rooms really that bad?

They are clean but very dated. Think beige tiles, shower curtains, and worn furniture. Upgrade if you can.

Is there a resort fee?

No explicit 'resort fee', but there is a credit card surcharge and a hefty daily security deposit hold.

Can I walk to dinner?

Absolutely. You are in the CBD. Salt House, Ochre, and the Night Markets are all <10 mins walk.

Insider-Tipps

  • The 'Rejuvenated' rooms on floors 3-11 have hard flooring (cleaner feel) while some upper floors still have carpet.

  • Ask for a room ending in odd numbers for better Harbour views.

  • The lobby bar has a 'Happy Hour' that is actually decent value for a 5-star hotel.

5 Dinge, die Sie wissen sollten, bevor Sie losfahren

  • 💡The Elevator Roulette: Only one of the three main lifts goes to the basement car park, leading to awkward lobby standoffs.

  • 💡The Secret Butchery: When built in 1987, the hotel was so self-sufficient it had its own butchery on-site.

  • 💡The 'Classic' Trap: The website photos mix renovated and old rooms. If the bathroom photo shows a shower curtain, run.

  • 💡The Fruit Water: The lobby usually has a dispenser of fruit-infused water that is surprisingly refreshing after a humid walk.

  • 💡The Wedding Factory: This is THE spot for Cairns weddings. Expect brides in the lobby every Saturday.
