Por qué a la gente le encanta

9.3512 reseñas
  • Rooftop bar 'Lumi' offers one of the best sunset views in the city over the Tagus River
  • Apartment-style rooms come with fully stocked Smeg kitchens and free minibars
  • Triple-glazed windows that actually work against the Bairro Alto party noise

Resumen rápido: A stunning palace conversion that feels like a wealthy friend's apartment, provided you don't mind navigating a sea of tourists and partygoers to get to the front door.

Reseñado por @gregkiepI felt like a true Lisbon local here. The apartment layout gave me so much freedom, and waking up to that natural light was pure joy. Plus, the welcome treats were a delicious surprise!

Lo que dijeron los huéspedes que se hospedaron aquí

The hype

Guests universally adore the rooftop breakfast and spacious, modern rooms, often citing them as a 'home away from home.'

Reality check

While soundproofing is excellent, light sleepers on lower floors still report hearing the bass thumping from nearby bars on weekends.

  • You appreciate high-end design (Claus Porto soaps, woven tapestries)
  • You want to cook your own meals occasionally in a high-spec kitchen
  • You want to be steps away from the best bars and Fado houses

Limpieza y Mantenimiento

9.6
  • Housekeeping: Impeccable. Multiple reviews cite it as the 'cleanest hotel' they've stayed in.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Spotless. Grout is white, glass is streak-free, no signs of mold despite the old building.
  • Maintenance: Excellent condition. The renovation is recent (2017) and feels brand new.
  • Linens & towels: High-thread-count, crisp white linens and plush, heavy towels.
  • Odors & scents: Fresh and neutral. No musty 'old building' smell, just the scent of Claus Porto soap.

  • Music from nearby bars on weekends
  • Cobblestone street traffic

Antes de reservar

Es bueno saberlo

  • City tax is now €4 per person, per night
  • The minibar is free and restocked with water, beer, and wine (sometimes only water is restocked daily)
  • You can use the 'secret' elevator inside the nearby Pingo Doce supermarket to skip part of the hill climb

Qué llevar

  • Shoes with serious tread (the limestone cobblestones outside are slippery as ice when wet)
  • Earplugs (just in case you want to crack a window open)
  • A light jacket for the rooftop bar, which gets breezy at night

Genio de Habitaciones

Mejores opciones

  • Penthouse Suites (Two-Bedroom) for the absolute best views and private terraces
  • Upper floor One-Bedroom Suites facing the inner courtyard for maximum quiet

Habitaciones a evitar

  • Ground floor 'Bairro Alto Mezzanine' suites if you are sensitive to street noise or privacy (people walking by)
  • Street-facing rooms on floors 1-2 on Friday/Saturday nights

Genio de Solicitud de Habitación – copiar y pegar

I am a light sleeper and would appreciate a room on a high floor facing the inner courtyard or away from Rua do Diário de Notícias. If available, a room with a view of the Tagus would be wonderful.

Preguntas frecuentes y consejos ocultos

Todo lo que realmente quieres saber antes de reservar.

Is there a pool?

No. You have free access to the pool at the sister hotel, The Vintage, but it's a 10-minute walk away.

Is it noisy at night?

Yes, outside is very noisy. Inside, the triple-glazed windows block 90% of it, but you will still hear a hum on weekends.

Is breakfast included?

Usually yes (check your rate). It's an excellent buffet plus à la carte menu served on the rooftop.

Can I park my car?

Yes, they have valet and self-parking for approx €25/day, which is rare for this neighborhood.

Is it family friendly?

Surprisingly yes. The apartment layout with kitchens and separate living areas makes it great for families.

How bad is the hill?

It's steep. Do not attempt to drag rolling luggage up from the metro. Take a taxi or Uber to the door.

Consejos de Insiders

  • Ask the concierge for the 'sleep kit' if you forgot your earplugs or eye mask.

  • The 'green shades' painted on the portraits in the Lumi restaurant are a deliberate humorous touch by the designers.

  • Use the Glória Funicular right across the street to get down to the city center without walking.

5 cosas que debes saber antes de ir

  • 💡The elevator in the building is surprisingly slow for a luxury hotel.

  • 💡The 'gym' is very small—functional for cardio but not for a serious weightlifter.

  • 💡You get a free bottle of Portuguese wine in your room upon arrival.

  • 💡The housekeeping is obsessive—reviews mention it might be the 'cleanest hotel in Lisbon'.

  • 💡The entrance can be tricky to spot if a tram is blocking it; look for the large wooden doors.
