Why People Love It

6.5349 reviews
  • Prime location right across from Flamingo Mall and near La Isla
  • Wide, swimmable stretch of beach with plenty of palapas
  • Friendly, old-school staff who remember your name (if you tip)

Quick Take: A faded 3-star veteran that relies entirely on its spectacular beachfront to distract you from the dated rooms and cafeteria-grade buffet.

Reviewed by @geeraldinekat_I stayed in the Swim-up Suite and it was honestly a vibe. The purple lighting gives it a cool party feel, but having that private pool right off the terrace was the highlight. Being able to walk straight out to the beach from my room made the whole trip worth it.

Guest Who Stayed Here Said

The hype

Great beach and location for the price, but the food is repetitive and the rooms feel stuck in 1995.

Reality check

The 'All-Inclusive' tag is a technicality—the food is so mediocre you'll end up spending extra to eat at nearby restaurants anyway.

  • You prioritize ocean swimming over room luxury
  • You are on a budget but want to be in the heart of the Hotel Zone
  • You don't need high-speed internet for work

Cleanliness & Maintenance

7
  • Housekeeping: Daily service is reliable, but they often miss dust on top of furniture.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Functional but worn. Grout is often discolored; water pressure is hit-or-miss.
  • Maintenance: Showing its age. Peeling paint, rigged sliding doors, and rusty fixtures are common.
  • Linens & towels: Towels are often scratchy and thin. Sheets are clean but old.
  • Odors & scents: Rooms can smell musty/damp due to humidity; lobby has a strong artificial floral scent.

  • Morning construction drills (as of early 2026)
  • Loud hallway acoustics due to tile floors

Before you book

Good to know

  • A $100 USD security deposit is often required at check-in (credit card hold).
  • The 'environmental tax' is roughly $4 USD per night, payable at the front desk.
  • The main pool is NOT heated and can be freezing in winter months.

What to pack

  • Insulated travel mug (cups at the bar are tiny plastic thimbles)
  • Your own beach towel clips (it gets windy)
  • Noise-canceling headphones for the room

Room Genie

Best picks

  • Ocean Front Deluxe (Top Floor): Best chance for quiet and a view that actually justifies the trip.
  • Ground Floor Oceanfront: Direct beach access, but less privacy.

Rooms to avoid

  • Standard Lagoon View: You are essentially sleeping on the highway shoulder.
  • Rooms near the service elevator: Noisy and high foot traffic.

Room Request Genie – copy & paste

I am requesting a room in the Ocean Front block, specifically on a high floor (4th or 5th) to minimize noise. Please ensure I am NOT assigned a Lagoon/Street facing room.

FAQ & Hidden tips

Everything you actually want to know before you book.

Is the wifi really that bad?

Yes. Do not plan to work from your room. It works okay in the lobby and sometimes by the pool.

Is the food edible?

Barely. Breakfast is the safest bet (omelet station). Lunch and dinner buffets are often cold and repetitive.

Can I swim in the ocean here?

Yes! This section of the beach is one of the best in Cancún—wide, sandy, and generally swimmable (watch the flags).

Are drinks included?

Yes, but they use bottom-shelf liquor and tiny plastic cups. Tip the bartender to get stronger pours or glass.

Is it a party hotel?

Not really. It's more family/budget oriented. You won't find wild foam parties here, but you will hear noise.

Does the AC work?

Usually, but it's often an old, loud unit that struggles to de-humidify the room completely.

Insider Tips

  • The 'Albatros' restaurant right on the beach is the best spot for lunch—skip the main buffet.

  • Walk across the street to Flamingo Plaza for a pharmacy and convenience store with normal prices.

  • If you tip the beach staff early in the morning, they will reserve the best palapa for you all day.

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The 'gym' is basically a closet with three rusty machines.

  • 💡You have to wear a wristband the entire time, and they are strict about it.

  • 💡The elevators are slow and often out of service—prepare to take the stairs.

  • 💡There is no room service included in the standard all-inclusive plan (extra charge).

  • 💡The lobby smells strongly of floral cleaning product to mask the humidity.
