Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali

$150-250/ night

Book this if You want a stress-free, activity-packed family vacation where the kids are exhausted by 8pm and the motorized water sports are included.

Why People Love It

8.3200 reviews
  • The 'Family Paradise' wing is a legitimate kid utopia with bunk beds and a mini water park
  • Gold All-Inclusive package actually includes motorized water sports (jetskis, seawalker)
  • Staff friendliness is consistently rated 10/10 — they remember your kids' names

Quick Take: A tale of two resorts: a chaotic but fun family playground in the back, and a slightly tired but charming traditional hotel in the front.

Reviewed by @kriti_lifestoriesI wasn't sure about the dark wood furniture at first, but the second I pulled those curtains back, I fell in love. The balcony is massive with a direct view of the gardens and ocean. It’s the perfect spot for my morning coffee in Nusa Dua.

Guest Who Stayed Here Said

The hype

Families absolutely adore the kids' club and activities, but couples often find it too chaotic and the food just 'okay'.

Reality check

The 'Main Wing' rooms are older and can feel dated compared to the modern 'Family Paradise' suites; some guests report a musty smell in the older buildings.

  • You have active kids aged 4-12 who need constant entertainment
  • You want to try jetskiing and parasailing without paying extra per ride
  • You prefer a resort where you don't have to leave the property for anything

Cleanliness & Maintenance

8.5
  • Housekeeping: Daily and generally thorough, though some guests note missed spots in the older Main Wing rooms.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Mostly clean, but older bathrooms show grout wear and occasional musty smells due to humidity.
  • Maintenance: The Family Wing is pristine; the Main Wing shows its age with scuffed furniture and slow drains.
  • Linens & towels: Clean but can feel a bit worn/thin in the standard rooms.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells fresh; some ground floor rooms have a lingering 'damp' tropical smell.

4-7.5MODERATE

  • Motorized water sports on the beach during the day
  • Street noise for rooms facing Jalan Pratama (Main Wing street side)
  • Hallway noise in the Family Paradise wing due to excited children

Before you book

Good to know

  • The resort is split into two wings (Main & Family) separated by a small temple/path; it's a 5-minute walk between lobbies.
  • The 'Gold' All-Inclusive package is the one that includes motorized water sports; 'Blue' is more basic.
  • There is a convenience store (Coco Express) and laundry directly across the street if you want to skip hotel prices.

What to pack

  • Water shoes — the beach can have sharp coral and debris
  • Rash guards — you will be in the sun a lot for water sports

Room Genie

Best picks

  • New Premiere Ocean View (Main Wing) — recently renovated, modern, and great views
  • Ocean View Suite — huge space (85sqm) and worth the upgrade for families
  • Kids Suite (Family Paradise) — themed rooms with bunk beds that kids love

Rooms to avoid

  • New Premiere Pool Access (Main Wing) — zero privacy, guests swim right past your glass door
  • Street-facing rooms in the Main Wing — can suffer from traffic noise
  • Ground floor rooms near the water slide — high foot traffic and noise

Room Request Genie – copy & paste

I would love to request a 'New Premiere Ocean' room on a higher floor in the Main Wing for the best view and quiet. Please avoid ground-floor pool access rooms if possible.

FAQ & Hidden tips

Everything you actually want to know before you book.

Is the beach good for swimming?

Not really. It's a water sports hub (Tanjung Benoa), so it's busy with boats and jetskis. The water can also be murky.

Where is the Lazy River?

Surprisingly, it's in the Main Wing (older building) on the street side, not in the Family Paradise wing with the slides.

Is the food good?

It's decent resort fare. Breakfast is extensive but can get repetitive. The 'Jukung' seafood restaurant is the best onsite option.

Can I use facilities in both wings?

Yes, regardless of where you sleep, you can use the pools, restaurants, and kids' clubs in both the Main and Family wings.

Is it noisy?

During the day, yes (water sports, kids). At night, it's generally quiet, unless you have a room facing the main road.

Are there hidden fees?

Standard 21% tax/service is usually added to bills if not on the all-inclusive plan. Corkage fees apply for bringing your own alcohol.

Insider Tips

  • Walk across the street to 'Coco Express' for cheap beers and snacks instead of paying minibar prices.

  • The 'Cool's Lounge' has showers and lockers — perfect if you have a late flight after checkout.

  • Book the teppanyaki dinner early; it has limited seating and fills up fast.

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The 'Lazy River' is actually near the street and the spa, making it a weirdly specific location away from the main kids' action.

  • 💡The beach sand is often groomed to hide trash that washes up overnight (common in Bali wet season).

  • 💡The elevators in the Main Wing are small, slow, and often uncomfortably hot.

  • 💡You have to walk through a public area/temple path to get between the two hotel wings.

  • 💡The 'all-inclusive' alcohol is local spirits only (Arak based) unless you upgrade to the premium package.
