Great Smokies Lodge

$150-350/ night

Book this if You need a full condo with a kitchen for a family of 6, but still want free access to the massive Wilderness at the Smokies water parks next door.

Why People Love It

  • Unlimited access to Wild WaterDome and outdoor water parks included
  • Spacious 1-3 bedroom condos with full kitchens and in-unit laundry
  • Slightly removed from the chaos of the main water park hotel but walkable

Quick Take: It's a timeshare condo complex that trades hotel luxury for square footage and water slides—just don't expect a late checkout.

Reviewed by @sassafras212I sprained my ankle just before checking in, but I still wanted to show you this unit! It feels so familiar and cozy—exactly like the Bonnet Creek layout I love. Plus, the new indoor water park here is absolutely massive. Perfect for a reliable family getaway.

The hype

Families love the space and the kitchen for saving money on meals, but the beds get mixed reviews for comfort.

Reality check

The walk to the water park can be freezing in winter, and the 10 AM checkout feels rushed for a family resort.

  • You have more than 2 kids and need a living room
  • You plan to cook breakfast and lunch in the room
  • You want water park access without sleeping directly above the screaming pool deck

Cleanliness & Maintenance

8.5
  • Housekeeping: Consistent but limited. It's a timeshare model, so don't expect daily turndown service.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Generally sparkling, though some grout wear is visible in older units.
  • Maintenance: Good overall, but recent reports of 'worn furniture' and 'uncomfortable beds' suggest a refresh is due.
  • Linens & towels: Standard hotel quality; pool towels are small and scratchy—bring your own.
  • Odors & scents: Neutral. No heavy chemical smells, but hallways can smell like chlorine from drying swimsuits.

  • Hallway noise from excited kids
  • Parking lot noise for front-facing rooms

Before you book

Good to know

  • Daily housekeeping is NOT standard; expect 'trash and towel' service or a fee for full cleaning.
  • You must be 21+ to check in.
  • The indoor water park is open year-round (barring the 2026 maintenance), but outdoor parks are seasonal.

What to pack

  • Pool towels (resort towels are small and often run out)
  • Coffee filters and ground coffee (starter pack provided but small)
  • Laundry detergent (in-unit washer/dryer is a lifesaver)

Room Genie

Best picks

  • Top floor (4th floor) units to avoid hearing footsteps above you
  • Pool View units for a look at the outdoor water park (instead of the parking lot)

Rooms to avoid

  • Ground floor units near the elevator (high foot traffic)
  • Parking lot view units facing the highway

Room Request Genie – copy & paste

I am requesting a top-floor unit to minimize overhead noise. If possible, we would prefer a view of the outdoor pool area rather than the parking lot.

Yes, 1-Bedroom suites and larger have full kitchens with stove, oven, and full fridge. Studio units may only have a kitchenette.

Insider Tips

  • The 'Thirsty Miner' restaurant is in the main building; for a quieter drink, check the small bar/deli in the Lodge lobby.

  • You can use the shuttle to get to Soaky Mountain Waterpark (across the street) if you don't want to walk.

  • Don't buy the extra water park passes online; you literally can't add more than your room holds. Upgrade your room size instead.

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The '10 AM Checkout' is aggressively enforced; housekeeping will knock.

  • 💡The sofa beds are notoriously uncomfortable—bring a topper if you plan to use them.

  • 💡Wi-Fi can be spotty in the far corners of the Lodge building.

  • 💡You might get a call to your room inviting you to a 'welcome breakfast'—this is a timeshare sales pitch.

  • 💡The outdoor fire pits are a hidden gem for evening relaxation away from the water park noise.
