Every single room is a private pool villa with valley views
Adults-only policy (15+) ensures a serene, romantic atmosphere
Exceptional dining at Kepitu Restaurant with a la carte breakfast included
Quick Take: It's the quieter, more affordable sister to the Instagram-famous Kayon Jungle, but you'll trade the famous tiered pool for a steep walk and some construction noise.
Reviewed by @sonata_sonke: I stayed in a private pool villa here and it was honestly life-changing. Waking up to the jungle mist and having monkeys visit my terrace made me feel so connected to nature. It's the perfect romantic escape if you need to disconnect.
Guest Who Stayed Here Said
The hype
Guests adore the private pools and the 'royal' treatment from staff, often rating it higher than the more famous sister property for service.
Reality check
The humidity in the valley is real — expect damp bedding, occasional mold smells, and plenty of insects (ants, wasps) joining you in the open-air bathroom.
You want a private pool villa for under $300/night
You plan to spend most of your time relaxing in the room rather than exploring town
You appreciate a smaller, more intimate boutique feel over a sprawling resort
Cleanliness & Maintenance
8.5
Housekeeping: Twice daily service (morning clean + turndown). Generally thorough.
Bathroom hygiene: Good, but open-air design means you will find ants or a stray leaf. Grout is usually clean.
Maintenance: Some wear and tear visible (peeling paint in corners) due to high humidity.
Linens & towels: Fresh, but can feel slightly damp/heavy due to the jungle moisture. Recent complaints of moldy pillows in some units.
Odors & scents: Mostly fresh jungle air, occasionally musty if the room has been closed up.

Before you book
Good to know
The hotel offers a free shuttle to Ubud center (Jln. Suweta) but it runs on a schedule
Breakfast is a la carte and 'all you can eat' quality, not a sad buffet
You get free access to the famous Wanna Jungle Pool at the sister resort (Kayon Jungle)
What to pack
Deet or strong insect repellent (the jungle is alive)
Slip-on shoes for the constant on/off at villas and spa
Lightweight rain jacket (Ubud rains suddenly and hard)
Room Genie
Best picks
Kayon Premier Pool Villa (150sqm) for the best balance of view and privacy
Lower valley villas to be further away from the construction noise at the top
Rooms to avoid
Villas near the lobby/top of the valley (closest to construction noise)
Standard Valley Pool Villas if you want maximum sun (can be shaded by jungle canopy)
Room Request Genie – copy & paste
“I am celebrating a special occasion and would love a quiet villa located lower in the valley, away from the current construction work and the lobby area. A room with maximum sunlight on the pool would be appreciated.”
FAQ & Hidden tips
Everything you actually want to know before you book.
Is it the same as The Kayon Jungle Resort?
No. This is The Kayon VALLEY Resort. It is smaller, closer to Ubud, and generally cheaper, but you get access to the Jungle resort's facilities.
Is it really adults only?
Yes, guests must be 15 years or older. It is very quiet and honeymoon-focused.
Can I walk to Ubud center?
Technically yes (30-40 mins), but the road (Jalan Raya Andong) is busy, lacks sidewalks, and is not pleasant. Take the shuttle.
Is the pool heated?
No, and since the valley can be shaded, the plunge pools can feel quite brisk/cold.
Are there hidden fees?
No resort fee, but expect the standard 21% tax and service charge on all food and spa services. Airport transfer is ~IDR 600,000.
How is the internet?
Decent for emails and browsing (free WiFi throughout), but can be spotty during storms.
Insider Tips
✨
You can request a 'floating breakfast' in your private pool for a surcharge (approx IDR 600k).
✨
Don't skip the free afternoon tea; it's a proper tiered service, not just a cookie.
✨
The 'Valley' villas are quite dark due to tree cover; ask for 'Premier' if you need sun.
5 things to know before you go
💡The dampness: clothes never quite dry fully in the room due to valley humidity.
💡The stairs: getting from your room to breakfast is a legitimate workout.
💡The monkeys: they WILL visit your balcony in the morning. Lock your doors.
💡The lighting: rooms are romantically dim, which makes applying makeup tricky.
💡The sister-resort perk: The shuttle to Kayon Jungle takes 20-30 mins, so plan your visit there as a half-day trip.
