Banyan Tree Mayakoba

$900-1700+/ nuit

Réservez si You want a private pool sanctuary that feels more like a Thai jungle estate than a typical Mexican beach resort.

Pourquoi les gens l'adorent

9.3149 avis
  • Every single villa has a private pool (no exceptions)
  • The 'Lagoon & Sunset' villas offer insane privacy and rooftop sunsets
  • Access to the entire Mayakoba complex (dining at Rosewood/Andaz/Fairmont)

En bref : It's a sprawling, bike-everywhere jungle compound where the beach is a 15-minute buggy ride away, but the villas are so good you might not care.

Évalué par @daisysobers1Arriving by boat through the mangroves was the coolest check-in experience of my life. The property is massive and feels like a private jungle sanctuary. If you need to completely unplug and recharge in luxury, this is the place. I didn't want to leave.

Ce que les clients qui ont séjourné ici ont dit

The hype

Guests are obsessed with the private pools and Thai hospitality but consistently shocked by the final food & beverage bill.

Reality check

The 'beachfront' suites lack the privacy of the lagoon villas, with guests often visible from the shore.

  • You value total privacy and want to skinny dip in your own pool
  • You enjoy biking through nature trails to get to breakfast
  • You love Thai food (Saffron is legendary)

Propreté et entretien

9
  • Housekeeping: Twice daily service is standard. They are thorough, even folding clothes left on chairs.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Immaculate. Huge soaking tubs and outdoor showers are kept scrubbed. No mold issues reported in renovated villas.
  • Maintenance: Generally excellent, though older villas may show minor wood weathering. Bikes sometimes have rusty chains.
  • Linens & towels: High thread count, crisp, and plentiful. Pool towels are plush and replaced instantly.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells of lemongrass and essential oils. Rooms have a daily incense menu (sandalwood, champaca).

Avant de réserver

Bon à savoir

  • You can dine at Rosewood, Andaz, or Fairmont and charge it to your room
  • The complimentary 'Eco Tour' boat ride fills up fast—book it before you arrive
  • Bikes are provided with every villa; check the tire pressure when you arrive

Quoi emporter

  • Bug spray (the mangroves are mosquito heaven at dusk)
  • Casual clothes for biking (it's the main mode of transport)
  • US Dollars for tips (staff prefer cash over credit card tips)

Génie des chambres

Meilleurs choix

  • Lagoon & Sunset Rooftop Pool Villas (New inventory, incredible sunsets, total privacy)
  • Beachfront Pool Suites (If you absolutely must be on the ocean, but less private)

Chambres à éviter

  • Older 'Bliss' or 'Serenity' villas near the main road or construction zones
  • Villas far from the lobby if you don't plan to bike (long buggy waits)

Génie de demande de chambre – copier & coller

I am requesting one of the newer 'Lagoon & Sunset Rooftop Pool Villas' (opened ~2022) for maximum privacy and updated interiors. Please ensure we are NOT placed near the main road or service entrance to avoid cart noise.

FAQ et astuces cachées

Tout ce que vous voulez vraiment savoir avant de réserver.

Is the beach nice?

Yes, but it's far from most rooms. The beach club is excellent, but sargassum is a seasonal issue (April-Aug).

How expensive is the food?

Very. Expect $30+ for appetizers, $60+ for mains, and $25+ for cocktails. Breakfast buffet is ~$57/person.

Is it kid-friendly?

Surprisingly yes. They have a 'Rangers Club' and family villas, but the vibe is definitely more adult/romantic.

Do I need a car?

No. You'll take a shuttle from the airport ($150+), and once there, you use bikes or golf carts.

Can I walk to Playa del Carmen?

No. It's a 15-20 minute drive on a highway. You are in a gated bubble.

Are the pools heated?

Yes, the private villa pools are heated, which is crucial for evening dips.

Conseils d'initiés

  • Ask for a 'Mayan Coffee' presentation at the lobby bar—it's a fiery spectacle.

  • The 'Nature Trail' connects all four resorts; it's a fantastic 3-mile run or bike ride.

  • Order the 'Tom Yum' at Saffron; it's authentic and spicy (chefs are flown in from Thailand).

5 choses à savoir avant de partir

  • 💡The coatis (raccoon-like animals) will steal food off your patio if you leave the door open for a second.

  • 💡The 'Eco Tax' and service charges add about 30% to your final bill—budget accordingly.

  • 💡You can take a boat taxi between the resorts instead of a golf cart for a scenic route.

  • 💡The 'Rainforest' hydrotherapy circuit in the spa is world-class and often empty.

  • 💡Room service breakfast is often better than the buffet if you want a slow morning in your robe.
