Sababa Resort

Réservez si You want the most Instagrammable pool in San Pedro and plan to be awake until the party stops anyway.

Pourquoi les gens l'adorent

  • Incredible infinity pool with direct volcano views
  • The shakshuka and schnitzel at the on-site restaurant are legitimately top-tier
  • Social, high-energy atmosphere that feels like a beach club

En bref : A stunningly photogenic party hostel masquerading as a 4-star resort—bring earplugs and lower your service expectations.

Évalué par @phvongtrvnI stayed here for a few nights and didn't want to leave. The infinity pool views over Lake Atitlan are unmatched, and the whole resort has this incredible boho energy. Definitely grab a swing seat for sunset—it’s pure magic.

Ce que les clients qui ont séjourné ici ont dit

The hype

Everyone agrees the views and breakfast are world-class, but the 'resort' label sets expectations the service and maintenance can't match.

Reality check

The 'poolside suites' are actually the worst rooms for sleep due to zero soundproofing from the all-day DJ and screaming guests.

  • Your primary goal is a killer social feed
  • You can sleep through bass-heavy reggaeton
  • You want a safe, enclosed compound in the middle of the backpacker action

Propreté et entretien

6
  • Housekeeping: Inconsistent. Daily service is advertised but often requires prompting.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Hit or miss. Recent reports of moldy grout and clogged drains in some units.
  • Maintenance: Wear and tear is visible. Peeling paint and broken fixtures are common complaints.
  • Linens & towels: Generally clean, though occasional reports of stains or worn fabric.
  • Odors & scents: Can smell musty in ground-floor rooms; pool area smells of chlorine and sunscreen.

  • Thin walls/doors in poolside rooms

Avant de réserver

Bon à savoir

  • Check-in is at 2:00 PM, but rooms are often not ready on time.
  • The hotel is cash-heavy; even if they take cards, the machine often 'breaks' or has high fees.
  • No elevator—be ready to haul luggage up stairs.

Quoi emporter

  • High-fidelity earplugs (essential)
  • Cash (Quetzales) for the deposit and potential bill settlement
  • Bug spray (mosquitoes love the lakefront)

Génie des chambres

Meilleurs choix

  • Upper-level suites for slightly better views and marginal noise reduction
  • Dorm beds—surprisingly private with curtains and lockers, often better value than the private rooms

Chambres à éviter

  • Room 10 (and other ground-floor poolside rooms) — zero privacy and maximum noise
  • Any room directly facing the nightclub wall

Génie de demande de chambre – copier & coller

I am a light sleeper. Please assign me a room as far as possible from the pool deck and the neighboring nightclub wall. Upper floor preferred.

Can I park my car there?

Conseils d'initiés

  • The 'day pass' for non-guests is 50Q, which means the pool gets crowded with people who aren't staying there.

  • Order the Shakshuka for breakfast—it's the best item on the menu.

  • The showers are solar-heated; shower between 11 AM and 4 PM for the best chance of hot water.

5 choses à savoir avant de partir

  • 💡Scorpions and large spiders are occasionally found in the rooms (it's the jungle, but still).

  • 💡The 'private' balconies often look directly into other guests' spaces.

  • 💡You have to wear a wristband during your entire stay.

  • 💡The Wi-Fi is decent in common areas but often dead in the rooms.

  • 💡Housekeeping sometimes skips rooms unless explicitly requested.
