  • Prime location at Black Rock (Pu‘u Keka‘a) for world-class snorkeling
  • Nightly cliff diving ceremony at sunset is a legitimate bucket-list tradition
  • The Moana Wing offers some of the most private, ocean-facing views in Kaanapali

En bref : A legendary grand dame that rests on its unbeatable location while charging premium rates for rooms that can feel a bit tired.

Évalué par @mauiconciergesI stayed in the Moana wing and the oceanfront access was incredible. Waking up and walking right out to the lawn for coffee was the highlight of my trip. The room felt super spacious, but that view stole the show. Definitely book this side of the resort!

Ce que les clients qui ont séjourné ici ont dit

The hype

The location is unbeatable for beach lovers and snorkelers, but the property is showing its age despite renovations.

Reality check

Housekeeping is hit-or-miss, and you will hear the luau drums if your room is near the main lawn.

  • You want to snorkel with turtles without leaving your hotel
  • You love a bustling, high-energy pool scene with a lazy river
  • You appreciate cultural traditions like the nightly torch lighting

Propreté et entretien

8
  • Housekeeping: Generally reliable but sometimes rushed; missed spots and late service reported.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Clean but aging; reports of cracked sinks and worn grout in some non-renovated bathrooms.
  • Maintenance: Grounds are immaculate; rooms show wear and tear (scuffs, older AC units).
  • Linens & towels: Standard Sheraton quality—clean and crisp but not ultra-luxury.
  • Odors & scents: Mostly fresh ocean breeze; occasional mustiness in lower-floor rooms.

  • Luau drums and music (evenings)
  • Hallway noise from elevators and ice machines
  • Pool activity during the day

Avant de réserver

Bon à savoir

  • Valet parking is ~$49/night; self-parking is ~$39/night and the garage can fill up.
  • The 'Ohana Suites' are good for families but often feature Murphy beds.
  • Microwaves are not standard in all rooms; request one if needed.

Quoi emporter

  • Your own snorkel gear (rentals are expensive on-site)
  • Reef-safe sunscreen (strictly enforced in Maui)
  • Water shoes for entering the ocean near Black Rock (can be rocky)

Génie des chambres

Meilleurs choix

  • Moana Oceanfront Wing (Buildings 5 & 6) for privacy and direct ocean views
  • Deluxe Ocean View rooms in Building 6 (top floor) for quiet

Chambres à éviter

  • Rooms near the elevator banks in the main buildings (noise complaints)
  • Lower floor rooms facing the luau grounds if you sleep early

Génie de demande de chambre – copier & coller

I would appreciate a room in the Moana Oceanfront Wing (Building 5 or 6), preferably on a higher floor facing Black Rock. We are looking for a quiet location away from the main pool and luau noise.

FAQ et astuces cachées

Tout ce que vous voulez vraiment savoir avant de réserver.

Is the hotel open after the fires?

Yes, Sheraton Maui is fully open and operational. Kaanapali was largely untouched by the fires.

Can I visit Lahaina town?

Most of historic Lahaina town is closed/destroyed. However, areas north like Mala Wharf and the Cannery Mall are reopening.

Is the pool heated?

Yes, the pool is generally comfortable, but the 'lazy river' is more of a slow-current float than a hot tub experience.

How is the snorkeling?

World-class. Black Rock (right in front of the hotel) is one of the best snorkel spots on Maui, with frequent turtle sightings.

Does the hotel have a club lounge?

No, the Sheraton Club Lounge was closed and has not reopened as of late 2024/early 2025.

Is there a resort fee?

Yes, expect to pay around $50/night plus tax, which covers Wi-Fi, cultural activities, and shuttle service.

Conseils d'initiés

  • Walk north along the beach path to Whalers Village for better dining options than the hotel restaurants.

  • The 'Cliff Dive Grill' is the best spot to watch the sunset ceremony, but get there 45 mins early for a table.

  • You can buy a cheap snorkel set at the ABC Store in Whalers Village for the price of one day's rental at the resort.

5 choses à savoir avant de partir

  • 💡The 'Lazy River' is very short and doesn't actually connect the whole pool complex.

  • 💡You might see feral chickens roaming the grounds (common in Hawaii).

  • 💡The walk from the self-parking garage to the lobby is a bit of a hike, especially with luggage.

  • 💡Housekeeping can be inconsistent with restocking coffee and towels.

  • 💡The luau on-site is convenient but considered 'touristy' compared to Old Lahaina Luau.
