St Michaels Resort

Réservez si You want a Cornish wellness retreat where you can walk from a hydrotherapy pool straight into the Atlantic Ocean.

Pourquoi les gens l'adorent

8.41408 avis
  • The largest hydrotherapy pool in the South West (it's genuinely massive)
  • Location directly opposite Gyllyngvase Beach—you can smell the salt air from the lobby
  • The 'Beach House' rooms which feel like a modern California surf lodge

En bref : A top-tier wellness destination that occasionally forgets it's also a hotel, with some 'Classic' rooms feeling a decade behind the stunning spa.

Évalué par @wherejesstravels : I still can't get over that outdoor copper tub! My stay at St Michaels was the perfect reset. Waking up to coffee on my private terrace surrounded by all that greenery felt like a tropical escape, yet I was right in Falmouth. The spa is incredible too.

Ce que les clients qui ont séjourné ici ont dit

The hype

Reviewers are obsessed with the spa and location, but often disappointed by the size and condition of the cheaper rooms.

Reality check

You will likely hear wedding noise or events if you stay in the main building on a summer weekend.

  • You prioritize spa time over room size
  • You want to swim in the ocean every morning
  • You are traveling with a dog (very pet-friendly)

Propreté et entretien

8.5
  • Housekeeping: Generally excellent daily service, though some reports of missed dust in older rooms.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Modern bathrooms (Beach House) are spotless; older bathrooms have isolated reports of tired grout or mold.
  • Maintenance: The new wings are pristine. The main house shows signs of age (peeling paint, creaky floors) in corridors.
  • Linens & towels: Crisp, white, and high quality. Spa robes are plush.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells like Elemis spa products (lovely); some older rooms can be slightly musty.

  • Wedding/event noise from function rooms
  • Car park noise for rear-facing rooms
  • Creaky floorboards in older sections

Avant de réserver

Bon à savoir

  • The hotel is cashless—bring cards or Apple Pay
  • You must book spa slots and dinner reservations well in advance, even as a guest
  • Robes and flip-flops are provided in your room, so save the suitcase space

Quoi emporter

  • Two swimsuits (one for the ocean, one dry one for the spa)
  • Walking shoes for the South West Coast Path right outside
  • A windbreaker—it's the Cornish coast, after all

Génie des chambres

Meilleurs choix

  • Luxury King in the Beach House (modern, sea views, terrace)
  • Spa Garden Lodges (outdoor copper tub, unlimited spa access included)

Chambres à éviter

  • Classic Double rooms (often small, tired decor, car park views)
  • Any room directly above the function suite during wedding season

Génie de demande de chambre – copier & coller

I am celebrating a special occasion and would appreciate a room in the 'Beach House' or 'Captain's House' to ensure a modern interior. Please avoid any rooms overlooking the car park or directly near the function suite.

FAQ et astuces cachées

Tout ce que vous voulez vraiment savoir avant de réserver.

Is the spa free for guests?

No. The gym and standard swim pool are free, but the 'Hydrothermal Experience' (hydro pool, steam rooms, sauna) costs ~£40/2hrs unless you book a Spa Garden Lodge.

Is it dog friendly?

Yes, very. It costs £20 per night per dog. Dogs get a bed and treats, and can dine with you in 'The Locker' area, but not the main restaurant.

How far is the town center?

It's a 10-15 minute scenic walk along the seafront into Falmouth town.

Does the hotel have AC?

Most rooms do NOT have air conditioning. Fans are provided, but it can get stuffy in peak summer.

Is parking guaranteed?

No. There are ~60 spaces for 90+ rooms. It's free, but if the lot is full, you'll be hunting for street parking.

What is the 'Beach House'?

It's a newer annex building. Rooms here are significantly more modern, have better soundproofing, and often feature sea-view balconies.

Conseils d'initiés

  • Book the 'Twilight Spa' package if you're not in a spa lodge—it's often cheaper and quieter in the evening.

  • Skip the hotel breakfast one morning and walk 2 minutes to Gylly Beach Café for eggs with a view right on the sand.

  • If you arrive early, the hotel will store your bags so you can hit the beach or spa before check-in.

5 choses à savoir avant de partir

  • 💡The 'sea view' in some Classic rooms is more of a 'glimpse over a roof' view.

  • 💡The indoor pool used for laps is separate from the fancy hydrotherapy pool.

  • 💡You have to walk outside to get between the Beach House and the main spa/restaurant building.

  • 💡Room service has a tray charge of £5.

  • 💡The 'Cornish Sea Salt Steam Room' is legitimately intense—don't say we didn't warn you.
