The Mulia Bali

$380-600+/ night

Book this if You want the 'Dubai meets the Tropics' experience—massive scale, over-the-top opulence, and a buffet that ruins all other buffets.

Why People Love It

  • The Oasis Pool (The Mulia guests only) is the most Instagrammed spot in Nusa Dua
  • The Cafe's buffet is legendary—entire rooms dedicated to dessert and sashimi
  • Butler service in 'The Mulia' suites is genuinely attentive, not just for show

Quick Take: It is enormous, slightly impersonal, and feels more like a marble palace than a Balinese village, but the luxury is undeniable.

Reviewed by @keli.kiimI felt like true royalty at The Mulia. The private cabana was my favorite spot to unwind with a fresh coconut, and the seafood buffet? Absolutely next level. If you want pure indulgence and zero stress in Nusa Dua, this is the place to be.

Guest Who Stayed Here Said

The hype

Guests are blown away by the grandeur and the food quality, often calling it the best breakfast in the world.

Reality check

The main resort pool gets crowded and noisy; if you want the 'zen' photos you see online, you must book 'The Mulia' suites.

  • You love grand, marble-clad interiors and high-ceilinged opulence
  • Buffet dining is a competitive sport for you
  • You want a self-contained resort bubble where you never have to leave

Cleanliness & Maintenance

9.5
  • Housekeeping: impeccable. Twice-daily service is standard, with turndown leaving fresh towels and water.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Spotless marble. Grout is scrubbed white. No signs of the 'tropical mold' common in Bali.
  • Maintenance: Excellent. The property is constantly being painted and polished. It feels brand new despite being over a decade old.
  • Linens & towels: High thread count, crisp, and replaced generously. Pool towels are thick and fluffy.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells of fresh frangipani and expensive aromatherapy oil. No musty smells reported.

Before you book

Good to know

  • The 'Oasis Pool' (the one with the statues) is OFF LIMITS to standard 'Mulia Resort' guests.
  • Traffic in Nusa Dua is calm, but getting to Seminyak or Canggu can take 1.5+ hours.
  • Download WhatsApp—butlers and concierge communicate fastest this way.

What to pack

  • Smart casual dinner wear (collared shirts for men, no flip-flops at night)
  • A universal adapter (though most rooms have multi-sockets)
  • High-SPF sunscreen (resort prices are 3x normal)

Room Genie

Best picks

  • Earl Suite (The Mulia) - Beachfront, massive jacuzzi on the balcony, total silence.
  • Royal Lagoon Suite (Mulia Resort) - Direct pool access, but pick a wing away from the main kids' splash area.

Rooms to avoid

  • Connecting rooms in the main resort if you are a light sleeper (sound bleeds through).
  • Ground floor rooms near the 'Splash Pool' if you don't have kids.

Room Request Genie – copy & paste

I am requesting a room in a quiet wing, away from the Splash Pool and connecting doors. If possible, a higher floor for better privacy on the balcony.

FAQ & Hidden tips

Everything you actually want to know before you book.

What is the difference between The Mulia and Mulia Resort?

Mulia Resort is the main hotel (500+ rooms, busy). The Mulia is the all-suite beachfront wing (111 suites) with exclusive pool access, butler service, and afternoon tea.

Is the breakfast included?

Usually yes, but check your rate. If not, expect to pay ~IDR 580,000++ ($40 USD) per person—it is expensive but massive.

Can I use the famous statue pool if I stay in the main resort?

No. The Oasis Pool is exclusively for guests of 'The Mulia' and 'Mulia Villas'. Staff strictly enforce this.

Is it kid-friendly?

Yes, very. There are multiple kids' clubs (Mulia Kidz) and a dedicated splash pool, but 'The Mulia' suites section is much quieter.

How far is the beach?

The resort is beachfront (Geger Beach), but from the main lobby, it is a solid 10-15 minute walk through the grounds.

Are there hidden fees?

Standard 21% tax and service is added to everything. No specific 'resort fee' on top, but check your booking terms.

Insider Tips

  • Walk 5 minutes south along the beach to 'Nusa Dua Beach Grill' for fresh seafood at 1/3 of the hotel price.

  • The 'Dessert Room' at The Cafe buffet has a spinning ice cream wheel—ask for a mix of flavors.

  • If you stay in The Mulia suites, the afternoon tea includes free-flow cocktails, not just tea.

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The 'smart casual' dress code is actually enforced; you will be turned away from dinner in board shorts.

  • 💡The resort is so big they have buggy shuttles, but waiting for them can take longer than walking.

  • 💡The ocean in front is swimmable (rare for Nusa Dua) thanks to a breakwater.

  • 💡You can hear the morning prayers from nearby temples if you are in the wings facing the local village.

  • 💡The 'toilet' in the suites is a high-tech Japanese Toto that opens automatically—it scares guests at night.
