Waarom mensen ervan houden

9.4408 beoordelingen
  • The Grotto restaurant inside an actual limestone cave
  • Access to three beaches (Railay, Phra Nang, Nam Mao) without the backpacker hostel vibe
  • Circular two-story pavilions that feel like luxury mushroom houses

Snel Overzicht: A stunning jungle Jurassic Park that charges Four Seasons prices for a property that's starting to show its age.

Beoordeeld door @martasielskaI’ve stayed at many beach resorts, but Rayavadee is on another level. The way the pool sits right under those limestone cliffs is magic. It’s boat-access only, which makes the sunsets feel incredibly private. Definitely a bucket-list stay for me.

The hype

Guests are blown away by the limestone cliff setting and the unique pavilion architecture.

Reality check

The rooms can be dark and musty due to the heavy jungle canopy, and the monkeys are aggressive food thieves, not cute pets.

  • You prioritize epic natural scenery over modern, sterile luxury
  • You are physically fit enough for stairs (all pavilions are two stories)
  • You want a 'castaway' vibe but with air conditioning and room service

Schoonmaak & Onderhoud

8.5
  • Housekeeping: Twice daily service is thorough, but the jungle environment fights back fast.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Generally clean, but grout can show age and humidity leads to quick mildew buildup if not ventilated.
  • Maintenance: Showing wear. Wood needs varnishing, and some outdoor cushions look tired from the humidity.
  • Linens & towels: High quality, but can feel slightly damp due to the ambient humidity.
  • Odors & scents: Distinct 'jungle musty' smell in downstairs rooms is common; lemongrass oil burners help.

Voordat je boekt

Goed om te weten

  • You cannot drive here; boat access only from Nong Nuch Pier (20 mins)
  • The 'Grotto' restaurant requires a reservation weeks in advance, even for guests
  • There are no cars on the property, only buggies and walking paths

Wat je mee moet nemen

  • Serious mosquito repellent (jungle setting = hungry bugs)
  • Water shoes (arrival can be wet/muddy)
  • Earplugs (for the longtail boat noise)

Kamer Genie

Beste keuzes

  • Terrace Pavilion (more light and airy ground floor than the Deluxe)
  • Pool Pavilion (for privacy away from the public beach crowds)

Kamers om te vermijden

  • Pavilions near the perimeter fence (loudest boat noise)
  • Deluxe Pavilions deep in the grove (can be very dark and damp)

Kamer Aanvraag Genie – kopiëren en plakken

Request a 'Terrace Pavilion' located in the interior gardens, away from the public walking paths and boat landing zones, to minimize noise and maximize privacy.

Veelgestelde vragen & Verborgen tips

Alles wat je eigenlijk wilt weten voordat je boekt.

Is the beach private?

No. All beaches in Thailand are public. Railay and Phra Nang get very crowded with day-trippers.

Are the monkeys dangerous?

They can be. Macaques will steal food and can bite if provoked. Keep doors locked and don't feed them.

Is the boat transfer included?

Usually yes for arrival/departure, but check your specific package. Private transfers cost extra.

Can I walk to cheap food?

Yes, you can walk to Railay Walking Street in 10-15 minutes for cheaper Thai food and bars.

Is there a dress code?

Resort casual. No swimwear in the restaurants, but it's a beach resort, so linen and sandals are fine.

Is it suitable for elderly travelers?

Risky. The pavilions have stairs to the bedroom, and getting on/off the boats can be physically demanding.

Tips van Insiders

  • Book the 'Twilight Dinner' at The Grotto for the view, but eat your main meals at the local spots on Railay Walking Street to save 70%.

  • At low tide, the tractor trailer ride to shore is a hilarious photo op—embrace the absurdity.

  • The 'Family Pavilions' are just two regular pavilions connected; good for privacy but not a single large unit.

5 dingen die je moet weten voordat je gaat

  • 💡The downstairs living room in Deluxe Pavilions is often too dark to use without lights on at noon.

  • 💡You might have to wade through knee-deep water to get on the boat if the tide is weird.

  • 💡The 'Spectacled Langurs' (cute, shy monkeys) are the good guys; the Macaques are the mafia.

  • 💡The path to Phra Nang beach is a public thoroughfare, so you will have backpackers walking past the resort boundary constantly.

  • 💡Monitor lizards (huge water lizards) roam the grounds—they are harmless but startling.
