Why People Love It

9.418 reviews
  • Every single room faces the Chao Phraya River with floor-to-ceiling windows
  • The 'Capella Culturist' service is basically a personal assistant who actually gets things done
  • Flexible check-in/check-out times (subject to availability) that feel like a game changer

Quick Take: It’s the most expensive silence you’ll ever buy in Bangkok, and for the right person, it’s worth every penny.

Reviewed by @crazyrichnomadI stayed in the Verandah Suite and it blew my mind. The private plunge pool on the balcony overlooking the river is the ultimate luxury. Plus, taking the private boat to the mall was such a cool way to travel. Definitely the best stay in Bangkok.

Guest Who Stayed Here Said

The hype

The service is telepathic and the river views are unbeatable, but the vibe is extremely quiet.

Reality check

Some guests find the 'living room' lobby concept a bit sleepy and prefer the energy of the Four Seasons for drinks.

  • You hate standard hotel lobbies and want to check in inside your room
  • You are a foodie who wants a 2-Michelin star meal (Côte) just an elevator ride away
  • You need a hotel that feels like a wealthy friend's private estate

Cleanliness & Maintenance

9
  • Housekeeping: Ninja-like. They organize your charging cables and leave lens cloths for your sunglasses.
  • Bathroom hygiene: Immaculate marble. Deep soaking tubs are spotless.
  • Maintenance: Generally perfect, though isolated reports of humidity/mold smell in AC vents exist (check immediately).
  • Linens & towels: Egyptian cotton, high thread count, replaced aggressively.
  • Odors & scents: Lobby smells of signature 'Capella' scent (jasmine/sandalwood). Room should smell neutral/fresh.

Before you book

Good to know

  • The hotel shares a 'campus' with the Four Seasons; you can walk over there for their better bar (BKK Social Club) and pool scene.
  • The shuttle boat is free and runs to IconSiam and Saphan Taksin BTS, but check the schedule — it's not 24/7.
  • Breakfast at Phra Nakhon is a mix of high-end buffet and a la carte wagyu steak and eggs — do not skip it.

What to pack

  • Swimwear for the vitality pool in the Auriga Wellness spa (it's better than the main pool)
  • Dressy casual clothes — shorts are frowned upon in the evening venues

Room Genie

Best picks

  • Riverfront Premier (5th floor and up) for the best privacy and unobstructed views
  • Villa 1 or 2 if you demand a private garden right on the water's edge

Rooms to avoid

  • Verandah Rooms (3rd floor equivalent) — you pay extra for a plunge pool that is visible to everyone above you
  • Rooms near the service elevators if you are a light sleeper (ask for 'end of corridor')

Room Request Genie – copy & paste

I would prefer a Riverfront Premier room on a high floor (7th or above) to maximize privacy on the balcony. Please ensure the room is not directly above the Verandah suites to avoid noise drift.

FAQ & Hidden tips

Everything you actually want to know before you book.

Is the pool big enough for laps?

Barely. It's a 'lounging' pool. Serious swimmers should ask if they can use the lap pool at the Four Seasons next door (sometimes allowed).

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, it is pet-friendly (up to 10kg/22lbs) with a fee, but they are restricted from pool and dining areas.

Is the location too far from the action?

It's in the Creative District (Charoenkrung). Great for food and art, but a 30-minute boat/taxi ride to Sukhumvit or Siam malls.

What is the 'Capella Culturist'?

A glorified butler/concierge hybrid who contacts you before arrival. Use them to book hard-to-get tables or street food tours.

Is the breakfast included?

Usually yes, and it's spectacular. If booking a room-only rate, expect to pay ~1,200 THB++ per person.

How is the noise from the river?

Soundproofing is excellent. You won't hear boats with the doors closed, but the balcony will be noisy during the day.

Insider Tips

  • The 'Chin Chin' hour at Stella Bar often includes complimentary cocktails for guests — ask your Culturist for the timing.

  • You can order food from Phra Nakhon (Thai) to be served in the Living Room lobby for a quieter meal.

  • Walk 5 minutes north to 'Prachak Pet Yang' for the best roast duck in Bangkok (Michelin Bib Gourmand) for under $5.

5 things to know before you go

  • 💡The 'Riverfront' rooms on the 4th floor are technically the same as 'Premier' but feel closer to the walkway below.

  • 💡The AC units in some rooms have been reported to struggle with humidity, leading to a damp smell — request a room check if you smell must.

  • 💡The villas are amazing but the river water is brown and silty; don't expect a Maldives-style dip.

  • 💡You can access the Four Seasons' BKK Social Club easily, which is often ranked the best bar in Thailand.

  • 💡The in-room minibar non-alcoholic drinks are free and replenished daily.
