The hype
Travelers are universally blown away by the architecture and the Moon Pool, but some feel the food prices at the on-site restaurants are steep for what you get.
Book this if You want the privacy of a colonial-style villa with the service of a top-tier resort, and you don't mind paying a premium for clifftop Indian Ocean views.
Quick Take: It’s a sprawling, stunning clifftop village that feels exclusive until a wedding takes over the lawn or you get a room near the service entrance.
Reviewed by @BaileyLammon429095: I stayed at Cape Weligama and it was pure paradise. The main infinity pool is iconic, but having my own private plunge pool was the real highlight. The food, the views, the vibe—everything was 10/10. Perfect for a romantic reset.

Service can be 'island slow'—don't expect a New York minute response time for your buggy or room service.
“I am celebrating a special occasion and would appreciate a quiet upper-floor Ocean Villa, specifically away from the loading dock and service entrance to avoid mid-day noise.”
Everything you actually want to know before you book.
Sort of. There is a small, rugged cove accessible by steep stairs (West Beach), but it's often too rough for swimming. The hotel runs a shuttle to the main Weligama beach.
Breakfast is excellent and included. Dinner at Tableau is a high-end 'experience' (£100+), while Ocean Terrace is solid but pricey. Many guests head into town for cheaper, fresher local eats.
Yes, but they are restricted from the main Moon Pool. The Cove Pool is the designated family zone.
Most villas share a 'semi-private' pool with 2-3 other units in a cluster (watta). Only the top-tier residences have fully private pools.
Mostly no. It's set back from the main road, so traffic noise is rare. The main noise sources are the ocean and nature, unless you get a bad room assignment near the back of house.
Not easily. The resort is on a headland. You'll need a tuk-tuk (cheap and easy) to get to the cool cafes in Weligama town.
Ask the staff to set up a private breakfast on your villa veranda—it's often the same price as the restaurant but way more magical.
Look for the 'fireflies' that light up the grounds from October to January.
The 'Jungle Gym' is literally under the Moon Pool and has AC—a rare find in this humidity.
