Wingate By Wyndham Coon Rapids
Video Tour de @ShesTrippy: I stayed here with my dog Poika for a vet trip. It’s a solid budget option if you have points to burn. The carpets have seen better days, but the bed was comfy, the neighborhood felt safe for walks, and the staff were super chill about the dog.
Por qué a la gente le encanta
- Surprisingly robust free breakfast with waffles and eggs
- Staff that genuinely tries to fix the building's shortcomings
- Prime location near Riverdale Village shopping and Mercy Hospital

Join me for a candid stay at the Wingate by Wyndham in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. I booked this room using 15,000 Wyndham rewards points specifically because I needed a pet-friendly hotel for my dog, Poika, before a vet appointment. I take you through the King room, which features a kitchenette area with a microwave and fridge, a large closet, and a surprisingly upgraded bathroom with a nice shower. I'm honest about the wear and tear—the carpets and furniture have significant stains, and the window seals are broken, obscuring the view. However, the room includes a massive TV and a very comfortable King bed that provided a great night's sleep. I also cover the breakfast situation, which had decent options like eggs, bacon, and waffles, but suffered from a logistical failure with no silverware available. Despite the cosmetic issues and the 'gross' factor of the stains, the location is a winner; the neighborhood is beautiful and safe for walking your dog at night. If you are a pet owner looking for a practical stopover in the Coon Rapids area, this review tells you exactly what to expect.

So let's check out our room. Got little Poika in here. So we are staying at a Wingate by Wyndham. This is the first time I think I've ever stayed at a Wingate by Wyndham. I don't use my Wyndham points very often. But we're traveling, I have Poika with me, and we are going to the vet close by tomorrow. And so I had to search out hotels that first took dogs and second took points. And I have a Wyndham card that I build points on and so I actually used all of my points for this room. The room was 15,000 points. So upon entering, you can tell by stains on the carpet that this is a pet friendly hotel. It's inevitable, carpets are always gonna be stained. Walking in there's a nice full length mirror. There is a little like mini bar kitchen area with a fridge, microwave, little coffee maker. There's the door. Got a nice big closet here with your ironing board. I just don't know who irons when they're traveling. I suppose business people, but not me. Come here Poika. Safe. And then the bathroom over here. Nice big bathroom. Turn the lights on, dark in here. Got a nice tub with the shower. Looks fairly upgraded maybe? I don't know, shower looks pretty nice. Towel bar, you got your toilet, sink, mirror. All the little goodies. What kind of goodies they give you here? Yep. Wearing my Chuck Smith and the Restless Hearts shirt. Alright. Nice desk. Kind of a little seating area here. Little comfy chair. Kind of tables in sort of an odd place but... And this is a King room. So got a nice big King bed. Big TV. I do like when I come to a hotel and I see a very large TV. Sometimes you get those small TVs that are hanging on the wall and you cannot even see them when you're in bed. So another nice big mirror. Let's see what our view is. Well, frosty window there. And frosty window there. Hmm, looks like this place needs some new windows. But otherwise, the view is basically just of the parking lot and street going by. So... So that's the room. This is again a Wingate by Wyndham. And like I said the room was 15,000 points. I'm not really sure how much it is if you're not using points. I think it was around 160 a night. But... So we are here for Poika's eye appointment. His appointment is in the morning so we came down tonight so I didn't have to get up and drive early in the morning. It is about three and a half hours down to his appointment so. Right Poika? We're just gonna chill for the night right? But first we're gonna go for a walk. You wanna go for a walk? Alright let's go. Just following up on the Wingate by Wyndham, the overnight stay that I just had. Uh, just got up, uh took my dog for a little walk. Came back, got ready, went down and got some breakfast. Breakfast at this one is very limited. They had eggs, scrambled eggs, some bacon, some fried potatoes, oranges, a little bit of yogurt, milk, uh boiled eggs, some breads and some danish and stuff. And no silverware. And there was nobody around to ask if there was silverware. So the girl in front of me when she dished up, she walked away with her plate um to go back to her room obviously like I did to eat with her fingers. But I had brought a spoon because I had brought uh soft dog food for my dog so I used that spoon before I used it for my dog's dog food. But um comfortable night. Uh was... it's really pretty down here. Um this is in Coon Rapids. It's really pretty down here. I got to take a walk with my dog last night. It was really nice. It was beautiful outside. Very safe neighborhood. Um the only complaint other than the no silverware and lack of um continental... oh they did have waffles too. Uh everything in this room is stained. Every piece of furniture like the chairs, the cushions are all stained. The floor is pretty stained. And like I said I do realize this is a pet friendly hotel but when you're traveling and you're staying in hotels that are pet friendly it's not really... I don't know it's kind of gross like I didn't even want to take my shoes off because the floors are stained. And granted maybe they do shampoo 'em and whatnot but it's still that there's stains all over the floors. Kind of gross. But I did have a good night's sleep. The bed was comfortable and um I guess it just had all the amenities that you need. So if you're ever in the Coon Rapids area in Minnesota and you're looking for a place to stay with a pet, Wingate by Wyndham is a... is an option.
