Is the beach swimmable?
Technically yes, but it's often plagued by sargassum and is quite narrow. The 'AVA Bay' saltwater lagoon is where everyone actually swims.
Do I really need dinner reservations?
Yes. Without them, you are relegated to the buffet or the snack bars. Email prearrivalconcierge@avacancun.com 30 days before arrival to secure spots at Black Iron or the French bistro.
Is the water park free?
Yes, 'Sunny’s Waterpark' for kids is included. However, the bowling alley, laser tag, and Flowrider simulator are NOT included.
How far is the airport?
It's very close—about 10-15 minutes. This is a huge plus compared to the 45+ min drive to Playa Mujeres or Riviera Maya.
Is it adults-only?
No, it is a family resort. However, there is an adults-only pool ('Dez Pool') and adults-only dining options like the French restaurant.
Are there hidden fees?
No daily resort fee, but expect to pay extra for premium activities (bowling ~$15), spa treatments, and certain menu items (Tomahawk steaks).
